To All Audi Club of Arizona Members “Drive Smart and Drive Safe”

,
It is the Board of the Audi Club of Arizona’s duty to occasionally remind our members that the Board has the power to remove and prohibit return of any member not following safe driving practices at our events. We have never used that power, but in light of incidents outside of our club this month we felt we should give everyone a little safety nudge.
Although not a club member, a young man died this month when he crashed his Audi TT into a retaining wall at high speed, strewing his car over SR-51.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to the young man’s family and friends.
A car leaving Scuderia Southwest Cars & Coffee at high speed spins and misses spectators lining the street by just a few feet.  With those incidents fresh in mind we thought it a perfect time for a gentle reminder that as an Audi Club member, we want to drive smart and respect the spot.
The streets are no place for racing, which is why Audi Club Arizona will be offering you the chance to drive at unreasonable speeds with track racing at Arizona Motorsports Park and side-by-side racing at No Fly Arizona for you to participate or cheer on.  We are also working on a Driving School for our members with in-car instruction using certified Audi Club Instructors.
We are proud that we almost universally follow our “It’s a Drive, not a Race” mantra even though we are often tempted to test the wonderful machines we so admire.  But remember to be safe so you can drive another day.
We want to see your smile next week too.
