America’s Race to the Clouds Welcomes New Entrants in Its 104th Running
[by: Trent Whicker]
Racing is woven into the American fabric – Daytona, Indy, and then there’s Pike’s Peak. In the 104th running of this Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, 75 entries will battle for greatness. This year’s June 21st race coincides the 250th Birthday of America and Colorado’s 150th and will likely be marked as a historical one with its internationally diverse field of competitors.
Teams and drivers from 11 countries will race along the 12.42-mile course, to the summit of Pikes Peak. This year’s competition welcomes 12 rookies to an already accomplished field, three of whom will compete in a competitive 16 -car T1 Time Attack Division. A full list of the Audi entries is listed below.
Romain Dumas, a five-time ‘King of the Mountain’, is back in 2025 with the Ford Super Mustang Mach-E after narrowly missing the top spot in last year’s shortened course. Challenging him is four-time titleholder, Robin Shute, debuting a brand-new 2026 ‘Sendycar’ V1.
Audi Club North America is honored to highlight one of its club members from the Carolinas Region, Rob Wilmoth, who will be competing as a first-time participant in the Time Attack 1 (TA1) category. The Time Attack 1 (TA1) is one of the fastest, most demanding categories of unlimited and open prototypes segments, which includes a combination of factory/factory supported teams, privateers, and drivers with reputable national time trial credentials. This division will include teams from the USA, Mexico, Poland, France, and the United Kingdom.
Rob, a fellow Audi Club member, is a seasoned time trial competitor and will be racing on behalf of many supporters, who will be highlighted in upcoming blog posts and social media. In addition to being a HPDE Driving Instructor for Audi Club Carolinas, he is a SCCA Time Trials Nationals Champion, two-time Southeast Division champion, a licensed SCCA Road Racer, and a participant in Gridlife Time Attack, Global Time Attack and Hillclimb. In the months leading up to the Pikes Peak race, Audi Club North America will continue to report on Rob’s progress and preparation for this rare and special opportunity.
