Scherer Sport PHX is going all-in on Audi power for the 2026 season, committing exclusively to the Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II as it chases a record-breaking eighth win at the ADAC 24H Nürburgring. According to a report by Dailysportscar, after briefly exploring a dual-program approach with a Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) in 2025, the team has decided to double down on a platform it knows inside and out.

That Porsche experiment wasn’t without success. Drivers Laurens Vanthoor and Patric Niederhauser delivered two Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie wins, proving the car’s pace right out of the gate. But a qualifying crash ultimately kept the car out of the 24-hour race, highlighting just how unforgiving the Nürburgring can be.

One Car, One Mission

For 2026, the focus is clear: one car, one mission. Team founder Christian Scherer emphasized the decision as a strategic move during a time of change in the automotive world, leaning on the proven performance and reliability of the Audi platform. It’s a back-to-basics approach aimed at maximizing results when it matters most.

The driver lineup reflects that intent. Alexander Sims, a 2020 Nürburgring 24 winner, returns to the squad alongside Christopher Haase, a two-time winner at the event. They’ll be joined by Ben Green, who makes his debut with the team, and in the R8 LMS GT3 Evo II, bringing experience across multiple GT3 platforms.

Momentum is already building. At the second round of the Nürburgring Endurance Series, Haase found himself in a now-viral on-track battle with none other than Max Verstappen. The fight for the lead electrified fans and proved the Audi still has serious pace, even against elite competition.

With the ADAC 24H Qualifiers set for April and the main event in May, Scherer Sport PHX is focused on dialing in every detail, from setup to driver chemistry. The goal is simple: prove the Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II is still a force at the Nürburgring and add another chapter to its already legendary record.
