AccuAir Suspensions Declares Bankruptcy Amidst Covid-19 Pandemic

There is no doubt that the Covid-19 pandemic will take a heavy toll on the global market, and of course part of that market is the automotive industry. As car brands stall assembly lines worldwide and businesses struggle to manage employees and overhead amidst this long-term market pause, we’ve received word of a company in our Audi enthusiast space filing for bankruptcy. That company is California-based air suspension manufacturer AccuAir.

Launched by brothers Reno and Dustin Heon back in 2001, Accuair has come to represent the leading edge in air suspension development over the years. In that time, air became common fitment in the Audi tuning scene, specifically amongst those who put a high-priority in the lowest of automotive stance. That Reno and Dustin have both run modified Audis over the years made them a natural part of the growing tuning Audi community.

On April 2, Accuair surprised the market by posting this message to their Facebook page.

With very heavy hearts we must announce that AccuAir Suspension is permanently closed as of today. After 18 years of relentless blood, sweat, and tears, the COVID-19 pandemic has proven insurmountable for the business. The California closure that was expected to last only 2 weeks has now been extended through the end of April or possibly longer. Our dedicated team members and founders fought relentlessly, but a final decision from our investors forced this devastating outcome.

Words cannot express the gratitude that we have for the many customers that loyally supported AccuAir over the past 18 years and made it possible for us to create the most innovative products in the industry. Although the end is bitter, our role in making aftermarket air suspension grow from niche to mainstream was pretty sweet. The many families that our business provided for (both internal and external) and the many close relationships developed over all those years offers us some consolation that it wasn’t “all for nothing”.

For those of you that have an open order or pending RMA, you’ll be contacted by the Bankruptcy Court to resolve all creditor claims. Unfortunately, all operations have been stopped and there is no staff to address your questions.

We know that many other companies are facing similar challenges (or will be soon) and many jobs have already been lost. We wish the very best to all of you during this unprecedented time.

Though shut-downs like this may happen quite suddenly, that doesn’t mean they necessarily happen cleanly. Many customers who may have had orders on hand may be affected. AccuAir made a second post to Facebook on April 2 that seems to address this as well. It reads:

For those of you that have an open order or pending RMA, you’ll be contacted by the Bankruptcy Court to resolve all creditor claims. Unfortunately, all operations have been stopped and there is no staff to address your questions.

We know that many other companies are facing similar challenges (or will be soon) and many jobs have been lost. We wish the very best to all of you during this unprecedented time.

Sincerely, AccuAir Team

If you had an order or deposit with AccuAir, you will want to be checking in on that. We didn’t see instructions on just how to do that, so would refer you to their Facebook Page HERE and also their company website HERE.

So what is to become of AccuAir? We’re hoping that they’re able to reorganize and stay part of the Audi tuning scene. It’s a valuable brand with impressive air suspension technology, and so we’re hoping that this lives on in some capacity. More importantly, we’re wishing the best to the AccuAir team, their employees and their customers who may be out of a job or inconvenienced in some way.

Last, we’ll leave you with this video from Fitment Industries. We thought it was informative and a classy look at a company for whom the team at Fitment Industries had a lot of friendship and respect.
