When former Audi DTM team Scherer Sport collaborated with ABT Sportsline (another Audi DTM team) to create the XGT that was basically a street version of the R8 LMS GT2, we definitely took notice. We’re definitely taking notice again now that Scherer has confirmed a run of augmented RS 3 Sportbacks limited to just three units.
The RS 3-X begins life as an RS 3 Sportback performance edition, already a model limited to just 300 units before it ever leaves the Audi factory. Scherer will build just three – one Nogaro Blue example (pictured), one Arrow Grey and one Daytona Grey.
From there, the car gets plenty of special touches from Scherer and ABT. Inside, this means blue contrasting stitching. Components here in the cockpit include many upgraded to carbon fiber with silver threads, and further pieces in black glazed chrome trim.
Outside is more radical, with ABT front lip including RS 3-X logo, front flics, fender attachments, rear apron with RS 3-X logo and rear spoiler. Each of these pieces feature even more of the silver flecked carbon fiber.
Power is boosted via ABT ECU and intercooler upgrades, taking power to 500 hp and 600 NM. ABT springs and stabilizers improve the chassis, while 20-inch ABT HR20 forged wheels fitted with 245 30 R20 rubber complete the look.
