ABT Turns the New Audi RS 5 Into a 710-HP Monster, and It’s Not Done Yet

The new Audi RS 5 certainly isn’t lacking in the horsepower department. Its plug-in hybrid powertrain combines a twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 with an electric motor to produce 630 horsepower. That’s more than enough to get the attention of most driving enthusiasts. But the folks at ABT Sportsline believe there’s always room for improvement. The German tuning company has just unveiled the ABT RS5-R, a 710-horsepower monster limited to just 130 examples worldwide. And that’s only the beginning.
According to ABT’s announcement, its Power S performance upgrade increases the RS 5’s combined output from 630 to approximately 710 horsepower. Torque also increases from 608 to 667 pound-feet. The additional power comes from modifications to the combustion engine, while the electric motor remains part of the plug-in hybrid system.
But ABT didn’t simply turn up the boost and call it a day. The RS5-R receives an extensive aerodynamic package available in gloss carbon fiber or matte Carbon Camouflage. Upgrades include a front spoiler, revised fender vents, mirror caps, side skirts, and a new rear diffuser. The Avant also gets a rear wing with aerodynamic blades.
The suspension receives attention as well. Lowering springs bring the RS5-R closer to the pavement, while upgraded anti-roll bars help reduce body roll. Gloss-black 22-inch forged wheels wrapped in 315/25 tires complete the aggressive appearance.
Inside, Dinamica microfiber trim covers portions of the dashboard, center console, and seats. Special badging reminds occupants that they’re sitting in one of only 130 RS5-Rs.
Of course, exclusivity and additional horsepower don’t come cheap. The conversion starts at €62,000 (approximately $69,500) for the Sedan and €65,000 (approximately $72,900) for the Avant, excluding installation and the cost of the donor RS 5. Choosing the Carbon Camouflage finish adds another €3,000 (approximately $3,365).
And if 710 horsepower somehow isn’t enough, ABT is already planning another upgrade. Coming in the second quarter of 2027 is a package targeting approximately 789 horsepower, along with a titanium exhaust system developed by Akrapovič. ABT believes there’s no such thing as too much horsepower.
