Fernando Alonso Parks the Aston Martin, Takes a Legendary Audi Sport Quattro to Monaco

Recently in Monaco one legend was spotted driving another. The monaco_luxurystyle Instagram page shared a short video of Aston Martin Formula 1 driver, Fernando Alonso driving the rally legend Audi Sport quattro around town. Now that is a sight to see.
Alonso is a two-time Formula 1 world champion. His Formula 1 career spans an incredible 25 years. He has entered 427 grand prix races, has 106 podium finishes and 32 race wins. He also has exquisite taste in cars. He has been spotted numerous times driving around in multi-million-dollar hypercars. We are sure that it is fun, but the Audi Sport quattro is an icon.
To satisfy Group B rally rules, Audi had to build 200 copies of the quattro so they could go racing. They ended up building 214 of them. Each one comes with a turbocharged 2.1-liter inline-5 with 302 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. That is an astounding 144 horsepower per liter. And this was in 1984. Naturally all that power is fed through Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive system.
Today these cars sell for several hundred thousand dollars. Not that Alonso couldn’t afford it, but we are not sure if he owns this car or if he is borrowing it. If he is borrowing it, we need to get some friends like that. Perhaps with Audi entering Formula 1 this year, Alonso wanted to get more familiar with the brand that will be challenging him. Perhaps he is considering switching teams. OK, we know that probably won’t happen. But whatever the reason, it is cool to see a Formula 1 legend driving an iconic Audi.
