Find of the Day: Wheeler Dealers–Featured 2001 Audi S4 Avant 6-Speed
We try our best to mix it up with our Find of the Day features, so it is unusual for us to highlight two B5 Audi S4 models back-to-back. However, this 2001 Audi S4 Avant listed at no reserve on Car & Bids right now is too compelling to ignore.
With nearly 186,000 miles on the clock this is no garage queen. There is also an accident from 2004 listed on the Carfax report. The leather seats are worn, there are chips and scratches in the paint, the windshield cowl is cracked, and modifications may prevent it from passing emissions testing in all states. So, you may want to ask when does it get good?
The Details
Well, the B5 S4 Avant is a fun little performance wagon thanks to its 250-horsepower twin-turbo V6 and quattro all-wheel drive system. This particular example is also equipped with the engaging 6-speed manual transmission. The car spent its entire life in sunny California so rust shouldn’t be an issue. It also benefits from some nice aftermarket upgrades. Most notably an MTM Stage 2 ECU, Wagner Tuning intercoolers, a Billy Boat exhaust system, Bilstein shock absorbers, H&R springs and front sway bar, a Neuspeed rear sway bar, AWE Tuning drivetrain stabilizer, and some 034Motorsport suspension bits. The story is starting to get better, right?
Speaking of stories, this car was featured in a 2020 episode of the TV show Wheeler Dealers with Mike Brewer and Ant Anstead. In that episode, the team replaced the timing belt in the car. More recent service includes an engine oil and filter change, spark plugs, air filter, driver-side turbo oil return line, and driver-side front CV axle replaced all done in September. The passenger-side headlight was replaced earlier this month.
The car is sold with the Owner’s manual, 2 metal keys, 1 plastic key, and 1 broken metal key, service records and spare parts that include the unmodified ECU, engine oil pan drain plug and fenders. And perhaps the best part of all, which is the car is offered at no reserve.
She isn’t perfect, but this could be a low-cost way to get into a fun Audi with an interesting background. Bidding ends on Monday, December 29.
