Audi Brings Back the RS 6 Sedan: Long-Absent Icon Seen Testing
[Source: The Drive]
When the C6-generation Audi A6 went out of production, it took the lovely RS 6 sedan with it. Of course, the C8-generation finally blessed us in the U.S. with the amazing RS 6 Avant. And as much as we love fast wagons, having the choice of a high-performance sport sedan would be nice. Well, it seems that choice will be coming soon. According to a report from The Drive, an RS 6 sedan looks to be making a comeback.
Spy photos show what appears to clearly be an RS 6 sedan undergoing testing. The car is heavily camouflaged but there is no masking the fact that this is clearly sedan body and it is packing all the high-performance cues. Big red brakes, bulging fenders and giant exhaust tips.
Those big exhaust tips are good news for internal combustion engine fans. The RS 6 sedan will not be an EV. It will likely be powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 hybrid. The same we expect to see in the next RS 6 Avant. Hey, it may not be a V10, but in this day and age, we will be totally happy with a V8. Especially if it makes over 700 horsepower, which we think is quite possible.
So, the good news is that the Audi RS 6 sedan appears to be on the way. The bad news is that you are going to have to wait a bit longer. It will likely make a formal debut next year and go to production as a 2027 model. Don’t worry, the time will fly by and besides, it gives you a little more time to save up for it.
