My journey into Audi ownership began in 2014 when I set out to upgrade from a decade-old Honda Civic. I had my sights on the B8.5 facelift S4, with its signature “peeler” wheels, manual transmission, carbon inlays, and a color in the silver, grey, or black family. After a long search, I finally found the one in 2017—a fully loaded 2014 S4 in Monsoon Grey Metallic with the rare Magma Red leather interior and carbon inlays. My wife sealed the deal with a quick, “He’ll take it… as long as I get a hat.”
Since then, the S4 has seen a few tasteful upgrades, including an APR Stage 1 tune, honeycomb grille, and red brake calipers. It’s been the gateway to countless Audi experiences, from Cars and Coffee gatherings to official Club events. One of the most memorable was attending a High-Performance Driver Education event at Carolina Motorsports Park, where I gained a new appreciation for track driving—even if I realized my S4 wasn’t destined to be my track car.In 2024, our passion for the community led us to relocate to North Carolina.
I now serve as Secretary on the Audi Club Carolinas Board of Directors, while my wife manages social media and marketing for the chapter. She also joined the Audi family with a 2024 SQ5 Sportback, and together we’ve logged miles all over the Carolinas, meeting fellow enthusiasts and deepening our ties to the brand. What began as a search for the right car has grown into a journey of community, friendship, and experiences that go far beyond the driver’s seat.

I currently drive a 2019 Audi S5 Premium Plus that I purchased stock with 28,000 miles. After two years of ownership, it now has just 32,000 miles, serving as my daily driver for a short commute. Over that time, I’ve completely customized and meticulously maintained it. The most eye-catching feature is the transparent carbon fiber hood, a real head-turner that pairs perfectly with the other exterior and interior upgrades, including a custom stereo system. Under the hood, the car has been tuned with additional performance modifications and finished off with a custom exhaust.
My S5 has been to multiple Audi events, where I’ve had the chance to connect with like-minded enthusiasts. Meeting fellow members has been a real highlight, and the discounts alone make membership worthwhile. I plan to continue building both the car and my involvement with the Audi community. Being part of the Audi Club Chicagoland chapter has been especially rewarding, and Dennis Marks has created such an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere that I look forward to every opportunity to meet more people at future events.

A little about my 2014 SQ5—it’s currently sitting on Rotiform ZWS 21×9.5 wheels paired with Airlift Performance suspension. The car is tuned with Integrated Engineering’s Stage 1, giving it a bit of extra horsepower, and I’ve deleted the center resonator for a more subtle sound. To enhance the aesthetic and driving feel, I installed a pair of Braum racing seats that keep me more planted. These upgrades alone have earned me a few awards at car shows, as it’s still rare to see an SQ5 built like this.

My garage has seen a variety of Audis, each with its own unique role. The 2012 Audi S4 Competition Drift Car is a wild beast—purpose-built and tuned for sliding sideways with precision and style. Alongside it sits the 2010 Audi A4, a four-seat demo drift car that’s perfect for sharing the thrill with friends or family. On a different note, the 2009 Audi A4 Avant has been lifted for added versatility, blending practicality with a rugged edge. And of course, the 2010 Audi A4 Avant serves as my wife’s reliable daily driver, proving that Audi can be both fun and functional for every kind of journey.

Cars have been my passion for as long as I can remember. From childhood trips to car shows to collecting Hot Wheels and building model cars, I was always captivated by the thrill of automotive design and performance. When I finally got my license, my first car—a rusted-out Toyota Celica—became my playground. That early love of cars led me through countless buys and sells, but Audis quickly stole my heart with their design, engineering, and quattro system. Over the years, I owned several unforgettable Audis, each marking a chapter in my journey, culminating with the 2015 RS5—a car that introduced me to a community of enthusiasts and truly changed my life.
Then came the B5 Audi, a project I never planned but couldn’t resist. This was more than a car—it was a chance to create something completely my own. Inspired by a unique Ferrari color called “Strawberry Milk,” I envisioned a build that stood out. Along the way, my girlfriend became an incredible partner, pushing me forward even when the project seemed impossible. When we uncovered rust beneath the wrap, it was disheartening, but her unwavering support kept us going. We hunted parts all over Alberta, faced countless setbacks, and poured more time and money than expected into the restoration.
In the end, the B5 was brought back to life, not just as a car, but as a symbol of persistence, passion, and partnership. It still needs a proper engine swap and more power, but that’s beside the point. Every dent fixed and every part found represents the journey we shared—the late nights, road trips, frustrations, and triumphs. This isn’t just a car. It’s my car. And every second spent building it has been worth it.
