Herndon – Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (VWGoA) recently welcomed the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington to their Headquarters in Herndon, VA as host for their 5th Annual Casino Night Charity Event. The proceeds from Casino Night provide funding for the Boys & Girls Clubs programs in the Fairfax County Region.

“We were thrilled to host the Casino Night fundraising event for the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington,” said Machelle Williams, Senior Director of Diversity and CSR for VWGoA. “They are a great community partner, and helping them fund programs that enhance the lives of children in our community is an honor for us.”

During Casino Night, guests were able to play table games that included blackjack and Texas Hold ‘Em using “faux money”, while they danced and enjoyed gourmet food. During the event, VWGoA employees volunteered their time to greet guests, assist with the live and silent auctions, and serve as dealers for the card games. The 240 guests had the opportunity to further support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington by bidding on consignment items and VWGoA vehicle experiences.

“Casino Night has become the signature fundraising event supporting the clubs in Fairfax County” said Sue Behn, Fairfax County Board President for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington, who has attended this event for the past five years. “We could not achieve the financial results that support the kids that need us most without the generous support and commitment of Volkswagen Group of America.”

VWGoA is a long-time supporter of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington, which includes a $25,000 donation in 2018. The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington provide educational, health and recreational development programs to children and teens in Washington, Maryland and Northern Virginia. This past year alone, the Fairfax County Region served over 530 kids through its programs.
