Herndon – Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (VWGoA) today announced that locations across the U.S. celebrated the annual “Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day,” inviting employees’ children to visit VWGoA offices for a glimpse into what their parents do each and every day. This marks the 5th year VWGoA has participated in the day.

“VWGoA’s participation in Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day is important to not only the company, but to our employees as it provides them the opportunity, as parents, to connect their life outside the office to the work they do every day,” said Mike Beamish, EVP, Human Resources, VWGoA. “It also gives our VWGoA kids the chance to learn about the VWGoA brands, experience our vehicles and see what their parents do at the office each day.”

This year, VWGoA had nearly 400 VWGoA kids participate in the day at various locations across the county including Herndon, Va. and Auburn Hills, Mich.

VWGoA employees planned action-packed days for the kids spotlighting the departments and teams at each particular location. From a DC United soccer clinic, racing building-block cars out of the back of the Volkswagen Atlas SUV and a vehicle scavenger hunt, the VWGoA kids got to experience all the brands have to offer – all while shadowing their parents for the day.

“Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day is a great event across the company that parents, employees and kids all enjoy. A big thank you to all of our employee volunteers who made this day so special for our VWGoA kids,” said Beamish.
