Editor’s Note: Here on this Audi-focused platform, we still take great interest in watching the advances of cars that share Audi DNA. In the case of the Porsche Taycan, it’s a J1 platform mate for the Audi e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT. So, achievements such as a Nürburgring lap record for the Taycan and its preproduction compnonents certainly bode well for the GT.

A most interesting R8 popped up at the Nurburgring this week, setting off the rumor mill about just what it could be. Is it a test mule of a limited production swan song for the much-loved R8, or perhaps a track weapon for an uber rich German client? We’re not sure, but we’ve got some ideas about where the rumors in the press are going wrong, and some perspective on who built the car and what that could mean for well-heeled R8 enthusi...

The ID. Buzz is a cool electric van from Volkswagen that’s available in both regular and long-wheelbase versions but so far it has been missing a more powerful and sportier version. That will soon change as we spotted a prototype for the hotter GTX version running some laps around the Nürburgring. We can see this prototype is a long-wheelbase version giving hopes for the US customers that the GTX will also reach the US market.
The bigg...

We've got new photos of the latest test mule to be seen at the Nürburgring for industry test days. Clearly, it's some sort of variant of the upcoming PPE-based A6 e-tron, and it's popped up before testing in cold weather climates. At the time, our spy photographer sources suggested it might be an RS 6 e-tron.
Admittedly, it's hard to tell. Why? Well, the photographers on site in Germany noted the large brakes with red calipers. It's al...

A few days ago we published shots of a more extreme RS 6 Avant spied testing. With manufacturer test days going on at the Nürburgring, the car has popped up again and this time video was captures by the Automotive Mike YouTube channel. Watch it below with the volume up.
We're also starting to call this car the RS 6 GT. While we were thinking it might shift to RS 7 nomenclature, more recent model reveals by Audi suggest it will retai...

When this RS spec C8.5 test mule was spied the first time, we labeled it RS 7, and for good reason. Audi began shifting even alphanumeric nomenclatures to its electrics with the e-tron facelift that took on the name Q8. Factory sources have confirmed the strategy, one that'll see the MLB Evo B10-based A4 ICE replacement become A5 while an electric equivalent remains A4. With an A6 e-tron based on the brand's new PPE electric architecture...

Further evidence of an updated version of today's Audi RS 6 Avant just popped up yesterday doing manufacturer testing at the Nürburgring in the form of this test mule. Though somewhat masked by camouflage wrap, changes are obvious including augmented flares, bigger rear upper spoiler and freshened front and rear bumper are plainly seen.
We reported recently on rumors of a hotter RS Avant in the spirit of the RS 6 GTO concept from a few...

Is Volkswagen working on yet another Golf R version ?
We spotted this Golf R 20 Years Anniversary Edition testing at the Nürburgring with canards on each corner of the front bumper making us think the Volkswagen might be working on something more for the Golf R fans. But is it just some kind of track package that will be developed for the Golf R or are they working an even more powerful version? To be honest we have no clue what so ...

We have some new photos of the Audi A4 Avant and this time the prototypes make their Nürburgring debut.
To be honest there is not much to write home about otherwise since the prototype still looks the same since our first sighting.
Engine options will continue to stay petrol and diesel though a fully electric version later on is not to be ruled out. Most likely we will also see the manual gearbox go away with this generation making it au...

We spied the hotter version of the Audi Q6, the RS Q6 once again, and this time during some quick laps around the Nürburgring. Our last sighting was during the winter test season so its been a while since the last time.
Visibly we can see the sportier looking front bumper compared to the more regular versions of the Q6. These prototypes also have the production lights as we can see revealing the split headlights up front together with th...

Macan EV goes ”Ring running”!
We have seen so many photos of the electric Porsche Macan out testing and it's still wearing the same camouflage so its actually getting a little boring.
But I guess when the prototypes arrive for some Nürburgring testing for the first time, we need to send those photos out as well.
So enjoy the photos showing 3 different prototypes testing in the Ring.

Cupra is about to get its first all-electric crossover with the Tavascan.
After the VW ID.4, the Skoda Enyaq, and the Audi Q4, it's now time for SEAT. This time the Seat crew is testing on the Nürburgring in order to get their version of the VW Group siblings the sportiest of them all.
Said to debut in 2024, it still has a long way to go but the long time sounds strange to us since the Cupra Tavascan will be based on the Volkswagen Group...

New photos from both Sweden and the Nürburgring are showing the electric Audi A6 e-tron during testing.
While the testing in Sweden is more of endurance testing, the Nürburgring test team are more focused on high speed testing.
We also got our first glimpse of the center mounted display but sadly the rest of the interior is covered up.
Enjoy the gallery.

Just as we sent out our photos of the Audi Q9 we received a new batch from the Nürburgring. And this time it looks like the Q9 prototypes have the production body. No more VW Atlas bodies.
We can also see the production lights have been fitted both up front and at the rear. As far as we know this is still a China only affair but maybe we will see the Q9 in the rest of the world later on.
