I get a lot of grief from my friends because I stated once (ok...maybe more than once) that the B5 isn't my favorite generation. I tend to like the even numbered generations better but this...this has won me over. This is a 2001 Cactus Green S4 Avant manual transmission. Here's the ad:

S4...Avant...quattro...manual transmission...yes, I know I sound like a broken record when it comes to our Find of the Day but what a combination. Combine that with what many call the most engaging generation, a B5, and you have a clear winner in this 2001.5 Audi S4 Avant. Here's the ad:

With the recent news that Volkswagen was stopping production of manual vehicles, the pool has gotten much smaller for people who like to row their own gears. It's a shame for us who do love manuals so we will have to look at the preowned market to satisfy our need. Thankfully there are people out there like Michael who understand. This is a 2001.5 Audi S4 Avant that was manual swapped. Here's the ad:

I don't know what to say about these B5s other than the fact that they are true Q-ships...when they are parked and have their hoods closed. Once you hear them though, their covers are blown. Martin Harp is the genius behind these B5 builds.
The V10 B5 started life as a "regular" S4. Martin transplanted a 4.2 V8 but decided to install a VR6. After running into some difficulties with parts and other things, he fou...

There's no doubt it's getting harder and harder to find a good B5 S4. So many were either modified or driven hard, with mileage or wear being costly concerns. Finding a clean one, much less one in a perfect spec like Nogaro Blue with blue Alcantara interior and 5-speed manual can be a near impossibility. So, when we see what looks like a good example, we raise the flag with a Find of the Day.

With the beginning of each year comes our annual identification of European market cars that have become old enough for relatively easy importation into the USA. For Americans, this means cars 25-years old or older, meaning cars manufactured in 1997 will qualify in 2023. For Canadians the requirement is only 15-years, meaning cars from 2007 or before.
For Americans, the big news here is early iterations of the B5 S4. While we did get that car al...

There's this bridge time for classic cars that moves from old and affordable so ripe for modification, on to old and in need of expensive repairs that may not happen, then on to old and classic where pristine and unmodified condition can pay off in spades. The B5-generation A4/S4/RS 4 is definitely reaching the latter status. So, when a clean example of an S4 Avant shows up on Bring a Trailer, it's worth noting... and watching.
This example ...

When I think of B5 S4 colors, Nogaro Blue immediately comes to mind then followed by Imola Yellow and Brilliant Black but then, obviously, there are many colors they came in...including Cactus Green. Purportedly 1 of 54, it's rare enough and I have never seen a Cactus Green S4. This is a clean example of one. Here's the ad:

The final month for the Audi Club Sweepstakes is here and we are going to turn up the promotions to 11. What you see here are three 1:18 scale models: A C5 Audi allroad, a 1987 Walter Röhrl Audi S1 Pikes Peak Winner (we've already given away 2 of them), and a perennial favorite: a B5 Audi S4 in Nogaro Blue. So why are there three models?

After the RS2 Avant and the RS 6 Avant, the next lusted after Avant would probably be the RS 4 Avant and the B5 one at that. Here's something I just learned today...apparently the B5 S4 Avant was not sold in Canada. Apparently Japan. Here's the ad:

The Avant is big news again in the Audi world as the RS 6 Avants have finally hit our shores and the A6 allroad is back. Interest from Audi enthusiasts hasn't changed though as they seek out desirable Avants of yore and I think this specimen will grab someone's attention. Obviously the color, Imola Yellow, is hard to miss but there are a couple of other points: it's a beloved B5, it's a 6sp manual, and i...

As I was searching for an Audi for last week's Find of the Day: Throwdown Edition, I found this B5 RS 4 Avant in Nogaro Blue. Since we had a Canadian Audi Club member as a guest, we went with the Canadian 15 year import rule (the U.S. has a twenty five year rule). It totally should have won its category if not the whole show but I'm not salty...much. Now some may know this about me but th...
