The 2020 SEMA Show Is A Go

words: Bill

The show must go on. Word came out today that the 2020 SEMA Show is still on for this year (November 3-6). It’s a little surprising to hear since major shows across the country and around the world have cancelled including our favorite jaunt out to the West Coast for Legends of the Autobahn and Monterey Car Week. Thousands of exhibitor and attendees have already registered and are planning to attend the event in Las Vegas, NV.

Tom Gattuso, SEMA VP of events: “We are steadfast in our belief that our members and our industry will recover more quickly from the current climate by safely coming together to share ideas and look ahead to strategize for 2021 and beyond. In some respects, it will be one of the hardest events we have produced in the Show’s 54-year history, but it will also be among the most gratifying.”

How does SEMA plan to protect the attendees? Here are just a few examples:

  • Social density concepts like directional traffic flow and distancing measures.
  • Use of CDC recommended personal protective equipment like facemasks.
  • Reducing touch points in high traffic areas like Registration or the New Products Showcase.
  • Increasing frequencies of facility cleaning and adding a process for nightly sanitization.
  • Encouraging early registration so credentials can be mailed in advance of the Show.
  • Developing an efficient health query protocol as Showgoers arrive on campus.
  • Streamlining food service locations to create touchless and cashless transactions.

SEMA organizers are focused on building a safe environment. They are closely working with health officials and local/state leadership to protect the  attendees and make them feel safe to congregate. However, things are changing daily so SEMA will be posting constant updates on semashow.com so if you are planning on going, keep an eye out on that site. Stay safe, everyone.
