Strong Close to 2014 and 2015 Planning is Underway!

PCC-ACNA closed out the fall of 2014 with two of our traditional events, the Fall Foliage Charity Fun Run and the Fall VIR Drivers’ School, plus some members also volunteered to support the Washington DC Best Buddies Challenge for which Audi of America was the title sponsor.

The 16th annual Fall Foliage Fun Run with sponsorship support from Star Sterling Automotive saw a record participation with 29 cars and 44 total participants.  The event raised $700 which will once again be donated to the UVA School of Medicine, Department of Neuroscience directed to support Parkinson’s research. A full article on the event can be found in the Winter issue of the Quattro Quarterly, but in the meantime some pictures from the event can be seen in the PCC Gallery.

Our annual Fall VIR Drivers’ School sponsored by Criswell Audi of Annapolis and New German Performance (NGP)was also very successful with 198 registrants plus dozens of additional friends, family and guests that came along to enjoy the camaraderie of the club.  Unfortunately, PCC lost one of our own shortly before VIR when Steve Mills, a long-time member and an instructor at our first Drivers’ School in 1999, passed away after a battle with cancer.  In a tribute to Steve, a “Missing Man” lap was driven in his memory led by some “old school”, 5-cylinder Audi’s for which he had a passion.  See a video montage of the lap here.

The chapter also continued the tradition of raising funds for donation to local charitable and service organizations.  Over $3200 was raised in 2014 to be donated to So Others Might Eat, Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic, Fisher House, and others.

Finally, our 2015 calendar is starting to take shape with dates at Summit Point Motorsports Park, Virginia International Raceway, and the new, soon to open Old Dominion Raceway.  We will also be scheduling a number of social and casual get-together events as well, so check back!
