Anthony Garbis, A4/A5/Q5/R8 product manager at Audi of America, was recently interviewed by ABC News as part of an article about plug-in hybrids (PHEV). Sales of PHEVs are growing worldwide but few Americans are aware of them…or may be ignoring them. Audi of America offers two PHEVs at the moment: the Q5 TFSIe, the A8 TFSI e, and soon, the A7 TSFI e (all Audi PHEVs will be badged TSFI e).
The Q5 TFSI e has a 2.0 four-cylinder paired to an electric motor that produces 362 hp and 369 lb-ft. It can outsprint a ‘regular’ Q5 by nearly a second from 0-60. The electric-only range is 20 miles. For many, that’s good for their daily commute.
“PHEVs should be a non-conversation,” Garbis told ABC News. “They’re fast and efficient and priced competitively.”
