Newport Car Museum – July 7th, 2022

Date/Time :
Jul092022
10:30 am - 3:00 pm

Come join your fellow NAAC members and other car enthusiasts as NAAC visits the eclectic automobile collection of the Newport Car Museum.

From the NCM website: “The private collection of some 85+ automobiles at the Newport Car Museum focuses on seven decades of modern industrial automotive design and celebrates cars as works of art. From the 1950s to the present, separate galleries of Ford/Shelby Cars, Corvettes, World Cars, Fin Cars and Muscle Cars and Mopars have been carefully curated to appeal not just to grandfathers, fathers and teenage sons but to men and women of all ages.” There’s also currently a “pop up” display dedicated to Porsche, Audi’s sister division within the Volkswagen group.

But wait: there’s more! The July 9 date is an “open hood” day, so aside from viewing the cars, the gearheads among you can also check out what’s under the hoods. (Or, for you British car types, under the bonnets.)

We’ll meet up in the lobby at 10:30 AM, although you are free to arrive anytime after 10 AM when the museum opens. The museum is located at 1947 W. Main Rd (Rt 114) in Portsmouth RI. There will be a dedicated parking area for our vehicles, Audi or not; look for the ACNA banner.

At 12:30 or so we’ll convene for a lunch break in the Museum’s Wheel Room, where there will be tables and chairs available to us. In addition there will be a raffle of Museum-related souvenir merchandise during the break. (No, Binky, this would not include their 1963 AC Cobra…) We suggest bringing your own food and beverages since there are only a couple of options to purchase take-out food on your way down Route 114. One possibility is Kaffeology, 8 Russo Rd, Portsmouth (just off Rt 114); another is West Main Pizza, 1620 W Main Rd (Rt 114), also in Portsmouth. After lunch you are of course welcome to continue to tour the museum, which is open until 5 PM.

Cost for the day is $25.00 per person, which covers museum admission, use of the Wheel Room for lunch, and the raffle items.
