Audi Club Nationals 2019, The Washington, DC experience
After your journey, whether near or far, enjoy a warm welcome and an opportunity to catch up with friends or make new ones while we kickoff Audi Club North America’s 35th Anniversary with a Welcome Reception on Lansdowne Resort’s Outdoor Terrace. The best part? A beautiful Virginia landscape accompanied by select Audi vehicles on display from Audi of America.
Guests will begin the evening at 6:30pm enjoying cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Upon the arrival of Tourist Trophy of America participants, we will kickoff the National Event with brief introductions from the Potomac Chesapeake Chapter. The reception will officially conclude at 9pm. However, the fun can continue at Lansdowne’s tavern, Coton & Rye.
No visit to Washington DC would be complete without a tour of the U.S. Capitol Building with a side of espionage and thrill mixed in at the International Spy Museum. The Tour begins by hearing the story of the U.S. Congress and the building of the Capitol featuring original and rarely seen documents and artifacts, videos, touchable models, and computer interactives at Exhibition Hall located in the Capitol Visitor Center. After taking in the grandeur of the U.S. Capitol Building, we shift to the only public museum in the United States solely dedicated to espionage, both domestically and internationally, and the all-but-invisible profession that has shaped history and continues to have a significant impact on world events. Audi Club members will enjoy lunch at The Monocle Restaurant, a short 5 minute walk from the U.S. Capitol Building, before heading to the International Spy Museum and going undercover to test their skills as an international spy. From the Washington Post, “On a sunny Saturday morning, up to 400 cars show up at Katie’s. The show starts early – some owners start pulling in around 5am to snag the best spots – and is pretty much over by 9:30am, when the shopping center wakes up. It’s like getting a glimpse of an African watering hole where exotic animals come together briefly, then disperse to their native habitats.”
