Since I was a kid, I’ve loved driving fast cars and bikes, basically anything with a growling engine and speed.  I would even volunteer to drive my dad around, so I can get behind the wheel of his Mercedes 560SEL.  It was fun driving it.  I always drove very nicely when my dad was with me, but when I was by myself, the real fun began!  In addition to driving on four wheels, I also enjoyed riding on two wheels.  I had a Honda 1100 when I was a youngster, followed by an Indian motorcycle called a Bullet.  Those bikes could really go!  On weekends, I would get my backpack and hit the road on my motorcycle.

Since the love for German cars is in my blood, I bought my first Audi in 1985, an Audi 90.  It was such a beautiful car, black exterior with black interior, with stick shift. It was a fun car to take on long trips and very comfortable. It broke my heart when I let a cousin drive it and he totaled it. Shortly after, I got married and we eventually started our family.  I couldn’t afford to indulge my love for German cars for a few years. Like any good Texan, I drove a pick-up truck for a while. When I started missing speed and began to consider adding a motorcycle to the garage, my wife convinced me to trade in my truck, forgo the motorcycle, and instead consider a new Audi. I test drove an Audi A6 with the 4.2 liter V8 engine and I was back in business!  Who in their right mind would not love the sound of that engine and speed! I felt like a kid enjoying a new toy. Since then, I have driven A6s, before trading up to an S6. I have even convinced my wife to get an Audi, first an A4 Avant, followed by an A4 Allroad, and an A5, her current car. We even purchased a Volkswagen Jetta for our son’s first car. We jokingly refer to it as his starter German car!
