Fellow ACFL and Audi Enthusiasts,

Unfortunately we had to have a change of venue and date, but once again we will be at it with a change in seafood and destination to go along with it. This time we will be headed to Jacksonville on November 11th for our MPG rally.

It will actually be a rather simple event, lots of fun, fried shrimp and, other seafood for those who are not enamored with those crustaceans. .

But there will be a couple of twists involved, one to test your driving skills and the second for the lemons on the shrimp.

The event is open to all active ACNA members from Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana driving their Audis having functioning MMI’s.

One of course, one must register. A number of starting points will be designated and if there is not one near where you live your local Audi Point is fine or even your own drive way will do.

The finish line and check in is the Audi Jacksonville dealership between 3:30 and 4:15-on Saturday November 11th…

If you would like to start driving on Friday, that is possible as you will be using Program 2 on your Audi’s MMI, which aggregates the numbers.

Every Audi has been blessed with a Federal Government EPA Highway MPG rating for that specific year, model and engine. That is one of the reasons you need to register ahead of time as we need to prepare your baseline and deviation MPG numbers to beat.

We all know in our hearts that MPG numbers are sort of like liars’ poker and that beating the EPA number with not much effort can be easily accomplished, just don’t try it with emissions, if you have been following the news, that may get you 40 months as a ward of the Federal Government.

So here are the basic rules:

Whatever model and year Audi you have, times the EPA’s highway MPG by 110% and that is the baseline target MPG you need to beat and beat badly if you want to be in the winner’s ring. You’re an ACNA member; Audi does not have circles, only rings remember.

This way, R8’s can compete with A3’s. For example, if your EPA mileage rating is 20, you need to get at least 23 to be in the running for something or if it is 30 you would need to be at least 34. That is not very difficult; the twist will come by how high your percentage is over the government’s rating plus 10%, which is your assigned baseline MPG rating. . Oh, and since the EPA has removed MPG figures for Audi diesels, I guess if one removes something it no longer exists, don’t worry that information and history is still available anyway on the internet.

In case of a tie, now, if you include the average speed factor from the MMI 2, with all other things being equal, the government plus 10%, baseline and percentage above that, the one which is able to post a higher average speed for the distance traveled would be the winner.

Don’t worry we will have folks with spread sheets that can crunch all of those numbers. And of course, there will be prizes for excellence in squeezing that last mile out of each gallon consumed. We plan on two classes’ gas and diesel and if there are at least two e-trons out there, we will have a third class.

Around 4:30 we will all head out to a local eatery to raise havoc with the native shrimp population.
