Drive a New Audi on Ice – Training by Audi AG Professionals

Last January, on the specially prepared ice training course, we trained in the amazing Audi RS 5 Coupe. Past instructors have included none other than Fredrik Ahlin, World Rally Championship driver and multi-time Le Mans champion Audi Sport drivers Frank Biela and Marco Werner.

A winter holiday in Austria conjures up visions of villages covered in a white blanket of snow surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery. Although the village of Seefeld-in-Tirol is renowned as a fabulous ski resort, for Audi Club members it is also a place where drivers learn invaluable driving skills from Audi AG world-class driving instructors, creating memories that last a lifetime.

The experience begins in Munich with a multitude of attractions. Whether you’re interested in history, architecture, museums, art or a visit to the Hofbrauhaus, there’s always something to do in this multi-faceted city.

The journey continues to the mecca of all things Audi — Ingolstadt. Club members lunch with Audi AG VIPs and enjoy a factory tour. Weather permitting, Audi AG instructors will give R8 rides to members on the Audi driving experience circuit at Neuburg. Late afternoon, the bus heads to the Austrian mountains and a beautiful alpine hotel in Seefeld to meet the winter driving instructors.

For two days, participants will challenge their driving skills in exercises such as ABS braking, accident avoidance, understeer, oversteer, powerslide, rhythm slalom and final full-circuit timed laps. Surrounded by the Tyrolean Alps, enjoying the luxury of a five-star hotel, saunas, massages, magical sleigh rides and camaraderie with Audi Club members is something you won’t want to miss!

Cost is $2,500 per driver, $1,100 for a non-driving guest and includes a welcome dinner at Munich hotel, transportation from Munich to Ingolstadt, factory tour, lunch, R8 hot lap rides on track (weather permitting), three nights hotel in Seefeld, all meals, two days on ice with Audi AG instructors, transport back to Munich airport. (Does not include airfare or hotel in Munich.)

Bucket List Adventure!

The Audi Winter Driving Experience should be a bucket list item for all Audi enthusiasts. I am happy to say having attended this experience I was able to add it to my bucket list and promptly check it off. From the welcome dinner and being able to mingle with everyone over an amazing spread at the Marriott, to touring the famous and truly incredible Ingolstadt Audi factory, to friendly competitions on ice in Seefeld I could not have asked for a better group to enjoy this experience with. Having hands-on time behind the wheel gave me more real-world experience than I would have expected. It also gave me time to feel the new S5 Sportback and inevitably… fall in love with it. I have added this experience to a list of events I would like to revisit as often as possible. — Talia Spain, Georgia chapter

Favorite Part is a Tie Between…

My favorite part of the trip is a tie between the factory tour, and the “track competition” on the final day. I loved seeing in person how our cars are made, and NOTHING is better than tracking an Audi. My favorite exercise was the gates. Being able to drift back and forth through the cones was a blast! My favorite instructor on the ice was Willy. I felt like he was truly tuned-in to my driving style and gave me specific feedback to better complete the maneuver, while not making me commit to a completely different technique.

I would absolutely go back to Seefeld again, and I am telling all my friends, coworkers, and fellow Audi owners about the trip. The trip was a huge success! The food, activities, and driving activities were all well planned and top notch. Exactly what I would expect from Audi. —Barrett Lanier, Lone Star chapter

Perfect Experience!

This experience was about as perfect as it could possibly be; I don’t know how you pulled this together! Every meal was fantastic, the instructors were awesome, the arrangements facilitated meeting new and wonderful friends, the locations were, well, Germany and Austria—what more needs be said? The rides with instructors in the R8 were exhilarating! I was so blessed to have participated and look forward to doing it again. —George Libby, Western Pennsylvania chapter

The Knockout Punch—Two Days on Ice!

The hot laps at the Audi Experience Center were fun, and it was great to visit the Ingolstadt factory, but it was the two days on the ice at Seefeld that provided the knockout punch. First of all, it was most impressive and humbling to see what the pros could do with the S4s, and then they turned around and showed each of us how to do the same. All instructors were brilliant and had a way of communicating that I wish I could emulate.

I still have trouble believing it! Controlled oversteer, understeer, lane toss with and without brakes, and best of all the Scandinavian flick all leading to the extended course which allowed us to try all the techniques we had learned. –Dave Parker, Northwest chapter

First Class Experience!

I cannot begin to tell you what a great time my brother and I had—first class event and experience. We have already been discussing doing it again. The instructors were awesome, very helpful and for sure I became a better driver because of this. –Dean Crue, Chicagoland chapter
