Once again, Legends of the Autobahn will be a can’t miss event for Audi enthusiasts during the bucket-list Monterey Car Week. As usual, Legends is a gathering of Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz owners. This year, the Audi focus will be augmented further with the participation of Audi of America who will be bringing a mix of new Audi models and special guests including Le Mans legend Tom Kristensen and Audi designer Frank Lamberty.
Tom Kristensen
Over his storied career, Kristensen has won the 24 Hours of Le Mans more than any other human. His remarkable nine victories include seven at the wheel of an Audi. He’s also the winningest driver at the 12 Hours of Sebring, with six victories all in Audi LMP cars. His collection of cars includes his Mk1 Audi R8 V8, an Audi R18 LMP car, and his daily driver RS e-tron GT.
Frank Lamberty
In the halls of the studios the Audi design team calls home, Frank Lamberty is also very much a legend. Frank’s influence has touched too many Audi models to count, but he’s the guy largely attributed with the first-generation R8 that reset the bar in the sportscar world, then did it in the racing world by also designing the R8 LMP1.
The Cars
In addition to the special guests, Audi of America will also be displaying a collection of new Audi models representing the breadth of today’s Audi brand. In addition to two Audi R8s with special wrap design penned by Lamberty, Audi also plans to show its range of e-tron electric vehicles.
The Event
The Legends of the Autobahn West returns for its thirteenth year running and second time at the Pacific Grove Links in Pacific Grove, CA this August 17, 2023. This year the event will feature the Audi R8 for it’s final model year. Registration is now open for all those looking to display their vehicles!

Legends Of The Autobahn® is an all-German marque Concours d’Elegance held in Pacific Grove, California, and Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Legends is hosted by the BMW Car Club of America, the Mercedes-Benz Club of America, and the Audi Club North America. The annual concours events offer both corral and judged areas, awards for all three featured marques, and an open class for all other German-made cars.
