Pandemic Restrictions

Although pandemic restrictions are being relaxed, it seems likely that social distancing will continue in many locations for some time. This prohibits in-car instructing except for people who are already closely connected.

One of the alternative techniques being discussed by the ACNA Performance Driver Education Committee is lead-follow – the process of an instructor driving a lead car to demonstrate the driving line with one or more cars following, along with the timing and location of various elements (when to brake, turn-in, begin acceleration, etc.). It also provides a way for instructors to introduce students to the track in a controlled, safe manner.
