Hot Wheels Rally quattro with HB Audi Rally Team Van Coming Soon

Heads up for fans of Audi’s classic quattro rally era. Diecast car manufacturer Hot Wheels appears to be coming to market with a new quattro-themed set. This one features a long-wheelbase Audi quattro rally car, team van and trailer. The van and the quattro are each painted in liveries consistent with Audi’s yellow-striped HB Audi team liveries.

Nerds will notice that the years may be wrong with this one. The packaging is marked 1987, which is a few years following Audi’s departure from the WRC at the end of the Group B class. By 1987, other than some privateers doing their thing, the only Audi factory rallying was running the short-wheelbase S1 Evo at Pike’s Peak. Those cars no longer had association with HB Cigarettes and so no longer featured the yellow livery elements, limited only to motorsport white with Audi Sport’s classic tri-colore brown, tan and red.

Okay, that’s us nitpicking. We’re still ecstatic this set is coming. We don’t yet know when it’ll arrive on toy store shelves, but keep your eyes peeled.
