Here’s What We Know about the RS 6 Avant Planned for Malibu Cars & Coffee This Weekend

Say you’re fixated on the new Audi RS 6 Avant and you simply must see it as soon as possible. You likely already know that the car is planned to attend the Malibu Cars & Coffee this weekend. You’re likely booking travel or have already added it to your calendar. Well, we’re here to provide a few more details, so we rang up Audi HQ in Herndon, VA to see what we could glean. Here’s the rundown.

Two German spec RS 6 Avant are expected to be displayed from 7:00 – 9:00 AM on November 10 at Malibu Bluffs Park off of the Pacific Coast Highway.
Big crowds are expected in a limited space, so plan on managing that. Also, figure the cars will have stanchions around them in order to keep them pristine. Word is they’re on a tight schedule and will bid a hasty retreat come 9:00. If you want to see them at cars and coffee, don’t show up late. You’ve been warned.

For the uber nerds, these are German spec cars. Like the Audi A6 allroad that popped up at Audi Club Nationals a few weeks ago, don’t expect them to be specifically built to U.S. market spec. The good news here is that the cars are likely to be very similar… except American sound restrictions aren’t quite as strict as those of Germany… so the U.S. cars will be louder that what you see at cars and coffee.

Some Audi experts will be on hand to answer questions, including U.S. product planner Anthony Foulk. He’ll be there with several of his German colleagues. That the car will pop up at cars and coffee ahead of its auto show debut is kind of a big deal.

If you miss the cars in Malibu, you’re not entirely out of luck. We’ve also been able to confirm that the RS 6 Avant, RS 7 Sportback and RS Q8 will all be on the Audi stand at the L.A. Auto Show (Nov 20-21 Press Days, Nov 22-Dec 1 Public Days)
