The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering at Monterey Car Week 2019

Named for the golf lodge on whose lush grounds it is held, “The Quail” may very well be the most exclusive car event of the weekend. Tickets are three figures and sell out quickly after becoming available. Security is tight, though incredible food and celebrities are plentiful once inside.

All that said, it’s obvious that Quail is enthusiast produced. Fireside chats with racing legends, car and concept reveals, exclusive vintage cars and even a write-in awards class for cool cars in the parking lot all add to the appeal. It’s easy to love everything The Quail is about so long as you can procure one of their coveted attendee wristbands

Bonhams auction house hosts a sale on the grounds of The Quail, with previews going on all week. Past years have seen cars like a Sport quattro and a Horch roadster going across their block, though this year there were no four-ringers in their mix.

For the Audi brand, The Quail is a must attend. This year, the marque’s key focus was the R8 LMS GT2 and R8 Spyder, with known Audi Sport personalities such as Tom Kristensen and Chris Reinke also floating around the Audi Sport stand and the venue.
