The Emerald Coast Region continues car-focused activities this month under the leadership of Bobby Hopp and Melisa Wilcox. The Platinum Coast continues to have events in the Naples and Fort Myers area. The Gulf Coast continues to meet at Audi Tampa on the first Saturday of the month, but January 2022 will be skipped. The Gold Coast will be at Cars and Coffee at the Miami International Mall on the second Sunday of the month and the First Coast is attending Caffeine and Octane at the Avenues Mall on the second Saturday of the month.

Our priority is keeping you safe when participating in events representing or promoting the club. Audi Club of Florida is not willing to put anyone at risk. While welcomed to these venues, remember we are guests of the establishment or promoter and respect the rules. ACFL recommends obeying the most up-to-date guidelines and orders issued by the regions and governor concerning events.
ACFL still suggests using an antibacterial wipe, a disposable protective glove, a plastic t-shirt bag, or a dog poop bag as a barrier while using the fuel pumps to avoid potential exposure and dispose of it after fueling. Be careful out there and protect your health. #FlattenTheCurve
Member donations
Audi Club Florida recently received some donations contributed through ACNA for the club. Bob has put together a note in the Gulf Coast Region. I am not going to duplicate any of his words here except thank you. If you contributed over and beyond your membership dues, it is greatly appreciated since 100% of the contributed overage comes directly to the chapter.

Audi Club Florida has the most regions of any chapter in Audi Club North America. As we continue this year, we are currently looking for leadership in the following area:
Gator Region – Gainesville Area
Thomas Brinkmann, the General Manager, of Audi Gainesville is ready to work with a representative to establish the region. If you are up to the challenge, let me know.
Many people have emailed me personally and through the national office to find out why there is not something in their area. I tell them assistance is required to help get things going locally. We desire to unite the state and have events within an hour’s drive of your location, at least quarterly. We are looking for some people who have the ambition to lead and desire to start something long-term, helping arrange places to meet for lunch, activities, attend local car shows and coffee events, and other social activities. If you would like to volunteer and help organize a successful regional club, please contact me for details, and we will discuss making it happen. If you want to become active to help your region with ideas and help assist with and organize events, with regional leadership I would love to have your help. This club is for you, so help us make it work for you.

Emerald Coast Region – Panhandle
Emerald Coast Region-ACFL closed out 2021 in a washout with Destin and Pensacola C&C both being canceled due to weather. Fortunately, we were still able to meet at Audi Pensacola to drop off our toy donations and also check out the new A3 with a nice lunch that followed. Appreciate everyone that came out and donated toys! I’d like to give a big shout-out of gratitude to Audi Pensacola and all that they and General Manager Jimmy Hurlocker do to support charities within our community. ECR-ACFL is looking forward to co-hosting events again in 2022.
Down the Road
Looking at dates for ECR’s annual Britton Hill Run as there’s a conflict with Amelia Island Concours d’elegance events for our original date of March 5th. I’m looking at either February or March 19th as of now. If you have any input please send it my way. Keep tuned in!

Lastly, we finally have some interest in getting the Tallahassee area active! Working on figuring out an event we can make it to. It will be posted in our ECR Facebook group as soon as the details are worked out. Hopefully, we can bring a crew of our AudiFam to welcome our new enthusiasts.

Platinum Coast Audi Club January 2022
Our first event of the new year will be a fun tour of a little known gem hidden away in Hardee County in Ona, Florida —think east of Sarasota. Howard Solomon, a retired artist who created a world based on his imagination, built Solomon’s Castle over many years. In addition to the castle, there are innovative art galleries full of pun-worthy gadgets and imaginative double entendre creations. There is also a collection of 13 pre-1935 automobiles —- could there be any rings in that bunch? Could an Audi Type A Sport-Phaeton lurk in the woods of Ona, FL? We certainly plan to find out! Of course, we will be having lunch in the ‘Boat in the Moat’ restaurant on the grounds.
So if you are reading this and you are not on our membership mailing list, give us an email at the address below and we will be happy to send you the details of our cruise into Solomon’s Castle from a meeting point in the more civilized part of SW FL. Our tour will be on January 15, 2022, starting at 11:00—look forward to seeing lots of new faces as well as our core group of loyal club members.
February will be a busy month for us! The Euro Tripper event is in our backyard at the Jet Blue Park in Fort Myers on February 5th. Last year was a great turnout and we welcome all our statewide folks to join us under our Audi flags and tent. The next day, February 6th, we have been invited by the Naples Porsche Club to join them at the Sebring Race Track for a tour and to watch their 29th annual club Sprint Races. We will be cruising in together from a rendezvous point several miles from the track and will have reserved parking for our group. We have several club members who are also Porsche Club members. We thank them for the invitation and chance for some combined Audi-Porsche Gemuetlichkeit!
The following week we will be at the Sarasota Dealership for a Cars and Coffee on Saturday, Feb. 12th. We will have some door prizes and Audi fact quizzes. Their tech guy will also be on hand to update us on all things Audi technology and what to expect coming down the pike soon. Of course, we hope the supply chain/chip shortage will allow their many new cars on order to be available for drooling and test drives. We will enjoy lunch at the Alpine Restaurant at 12:00 PM following the C and C.
