FixxFest

FixxFest will be happening this year.

When – Nov 20th, 2021

Where – Florida International Rally & Motorsport Park (The FIRM) Starke, FL.

Tickets are going on sale August 2, 2021. Multiple options will be available.

Here are details on the three different ticket types, adding a new dynamic to the FixxFest experience:

Track Tickets:

Track tickets are available this year as we now have a road course track available for the event. The Track portion of the event is set up as a Time Attack/ Auto Cross event with a Point A and Point B, utilizing the road course at The FIRM. The total number of track tickets will be limited to ONLY 80 TICKETS. To ensure everyone has a fair chance at obtaining a track ticket, we are spacing out ticket sales for track tickets to 20 Tickets per month leading to the event. On the First Monday of every month, 20 Track Tickets will be available in stock on the FixxFest website.

For example, if tickets are sold out on this first round, do not worry as you will have another opportunity to get a ticket in the next round of tickets available next month on the first Monday of September! Make sure to read all terms, services, agreements, and inspection requirements before purchasing a track ticket! SNELL 2010 + Helmet purchases and rentals are available at The FIRM Website. The track is limited to Euro cars only as is the rest of the show.

Best of Show Tickets:

The Best of Show is reserved for highly modified and show-ready Euro vehicles at FixxFest. You simply select ‘Best of Show’ and enter all of the details in the drop-down boxes on the webpage. Make sure to fill out all applicable boxes to allow us to review as much detail about your vehicle as possible! Best of Show vehicles are selected based on what you include in your entry. Best of Show ticket purchase does not guarantee your car will be in the Best of Show, only the selection process. If your vehicle is not selected, a refund will be given. These tickets are not limited to any amount but selections may be limited once vehicles are passed the selection process.

General Admission Tickets:

General Admission tickets are available to anyone and everyone interested in enjoying the show this year, November 20th, 2021, at The FIRM. We invite all of our friends and families to come out, enjoy some great show cars, vendors, food, and the Track experience this year! 2020 was a difficult time, but we are here to bring the good times back to you. Please make sure you read all the details for the days’ events and expect nothing but an amazing weekend with us at FixxFest 2021.

Tickets will be available starting 2 August at 12:00 PM EST at the link below:

https://www.urotuning.com/products/fixxfest-2021-event-tickets

https://www.fixxfest.com  for more information.

It is the same great event, but with an exciting new location.  Many of you are aware of the location. UroTuning is hoping to draw even more show competition from neighboring states; as well people who want have fun at the track. More details will be given as they are “firmed up”.

Our priority is keeping you safe when participating in events representing or promoting the club. Audi Club of Florida is not willing to put anyone at risk. While welcomed to these venues, remember we are guests of the establishment or promoter and respect the rules. ACFL recommends obeying the most up to date guidelines and orders issued by the regions and governor concerning events.

ACFL still suggests using an antibacterial wipe, a disposable protective glove, a plastic t-shirt bag, or a dog poop bag as a barrier while using the fuel pumps to avoid potential exposure and dispose of it after fueling. Be careful out there and protect your health. #FlattenTheCurve

ACNA Vehicle Purchase Discount Certificates

For those of you planning to buy a new Audi and utilizing the ACNA Member discount, contact the front office at (262) 567-5476 as soon as you plan to shop.  The certificates expire at the end of the month issued, so should negotiations lapse into the next month, you will need to request a new one to take advantage of the savings.

We are trying to expand regional coverage but need your help!

Audi Club Florida has the most active regions of any chapter in the Audi Club North America.  As we continue this year, we are currently looking for leadership in the following area:

Gator Region – Gainesville Area

Thomas Brinkmann, the General Manager, of Audi Gainesville is ready to work with a representative to establish the region. If you are up to the challenge, let me know.

Many people have emailed me personally and through the national office to find out why there is not something in their area. I tell them assistance is required to help get things going locally. We desire to unite the state and have events within an hour’s drive of your location, at least quarterly. We are looking for some people who have the ambition to lead and desire to start something long term, helping arrange places to meet for lunch, activities, attend local car shows and coffee events, and other social activities. If you would like to volunteer and help organize a successful regional club, please contact me for details, and we will discuss making it happen. If you want to get active to help your region with ideas and help assist with and organize events, the regional leadership and I would love to have your help. This club is for you, so help us make it work for you.

Down the Road

One More Thing

After a 9 year detour into a couple of A4 allroads I am now into a 21 A6 allroad. The last iteration of the A6 Avant I was in was actually a 02 S6 Avant and here are some interesting comparisons. The latest iteration is a 3.0 V6 turbo charge compared to the 4.2 40 valve that is right it had 5 valves per cylinder V8. Both produce within 5 horsepower, about 340 for the S6, which had a 5 speed transmission with the allroad having a seven speed at 335 hp.

The allroad, which is a Prestige but not totally decked out cost about 16 grand more than the S6, which at the time came loaded.  The S6 had a 200 watt eight speaker Bose system that included a cassette and CD player, the allroad had 16 speakers, 705 watts and no cassette and CD play or any player of any kind, one has to buy that extra. Not sure that was an improvement there.

Clearly the new car is safer, the navigation is better and there are a lot of new electronics. Headlights are clearly better but no rear fog lamps in the US model; the S6 had two. Perhaps with climate change Audi is thinking forward that there will no longer be fog and smog. Not so sure on that. Those rear fog lamps were indispensable for occasional anti-social behavior and the brake checking of tailgaters.

I have been trying to find a real road test on the S6 which provided G forces and actual accelerations but did not come across one though Ingolstadt said it did Zero to 60 in 6.5 seconds. The V8 did make a nice rumble and as I recall in the forums many at the time switched out the exhaust to increase that sound. The new allroad is considerably faster at 5.1 seconds to 60 mph while coming in at about 450 pounds heavier.

As for MPG the S6 never got better than 11 or 12 driving around town according to the read outs. The allroad is about 21-22, which is considerable better. On the highway I was never able to exceed 21 mpg with the S6 but have been able to hit 33 mpg on a recent drive back from Hilton Head to St Pete averaging close to 70 MPH. So between the improved engine tuning, and taller gearing I believe both have almost the same cd the allroad would be considered an economy car back 2002 or would it be considered a real barn burner with those types of acceleration figures.

Actually the 21’s allroad acceleration only 0.2 seconds off of a 02’s RS 6 Zero to 62 acceleration of 4.9 seconds and comes in close to the $80K price tag of the RS 6. What a difference almost 20 years has made in the development of Audis. It is doubtful in the next 20 years there will have any fossil fuel Avants out there to compare it to.

Do not forget to purchase your RS 6 Avant raffle tickets through the club website!!!!

Cheers and Safe Motoring

July in Emerald Coast Region-ACFL was certainly a hot one but it didn’t stop ECR from bringing the sizzle to Pensacola C&C for Detail Garage’s Grand Reopening. We had a great turnout of regulars and several new enthusiasts that joined in for the fun. It was great seeing everyone who came out. One of the most exciting things to happen in July was the release of quattro magazine’s Q3 and ECR’S IG mention in “Five Instagrammers Audi Enthusiasts Need to Follow” feature by Denis Podmarkov. Really appreciate the support @_dpod_ , can’t thank you enough.

August events:

– 8/21 Destin Show and Shine 9am-12pm at Destin Hooter’s, 15015 Emerald Coast Pkwy, Destin, Fl

– 8/21 Headlights and Horsepower 6-8pm at 1145 Gulf Breeze Pkwy, Gulf Breeze, FL

– 8/28 Pensacola C&C 9-11am at Detail Garage, 5007 N Davis Hwy, Pensacola, Fl

All events are posted on our Facebook page. Keep checking in for updates. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1511332725662555/

Make sure to follow us on Instagram @emeraldcoastaudiclub.

Our @emeraldcoastaudiclub Instagram page keeps going strong! Really appreciate Jeremy Chavez’s contributions and help. We’ve both been really busy but hope to have more content coming soon. Appreciate all the other Audi Club Groups that have continued to tag and support us! If anyone in our region is interested becoming a part of ECR’s IG contributor group please reach out to me.

Lastly, we finally have some interest to get the Tallahassee area active! Working on figuring out an event we can make it to. It will it be posted in our ECR Facebook group as soon as the details are worked out. Hopefully we can bring a crew of our AudiFam to welcome our new enthusiasts.

Looking forward to the next AudiFam adventure!

Platinum Coast Region (Sarasota to Naples)

The Platinum Coast Audi club had taken July off to exercise our rings in individual journeys. As for Barb and Rudy we took the opportunity to run the Dragon Tail (US Route 129) from TN to NC on the western border of The Great Smoky Mountains. This was en route back to Paradise from our northern Mooch March visiting family and friends in GA/OH/PA. The A6’s paddle shifters were quite busy as we drove the 318 curves in 11 miles. Barb was wishing for guard rails and blinders, but Rudy loved every moment of it!

Of course we were inspired by the Quattro de Mayo hosted by Audi Club Georgia, the write-ups in the quattro magazine, and tales of our members who have driven it before. We’d love to run it again—but this time in our TT roadster.

We also take this opportunity to thank Gerry Simms and Bob Greving for nominating us for the honor of “Audi Club North America’s Member of the Year”. We appreciate the kudos and recognition. What a nice write-up these two put together. We want to extend our congratulations to the winning member, one of Arizona’s “Three Amigos” (as their leads are called): Kelly Batton from Audi Club Arizona. A very hard-working and well-deserving young lady!

Our Saturday, August 21st Dine and Drive is a tour of the Edison-Ford Estates on MacGregor Drive in Fort Myers. After touring the museum, laboratory, botanical gardens, the winter estates, and the Ford Garage with its antique collection—–obviously no rings—just ovals, we will cruise to our mystery destination for lunch.

We would encourage any of our Florida Audi family to join us for a bit of history, education, and socialization on the Caloosahatchee River. Just drop us an email to our address below before August 15th. We are busy organizing our fall schedule and will hopefully remain Covid-free and therefore able to expand our horizons a bit.—Stay tuned!
