A Platinum Coast member’s ride at Euro Tripper 8

Audi Club Florida attended EuroTripper in Fort Myers. Attendees came from the Gulf Coast, Platinum Coast, First Coast, and a couple who had recently relocated from the Emerald Coast. We gave out some Audi branded swag and displayed an e-tron from Audi of Fort Myers.

We followed the events Covid-19 protocols as requested to allow the event to happen. EuroTripper in Fort Myers was to support a fundraiser for Brookes Legacy Animal Rescue. The show was large with 800-1000 various European vehicles in attendance. It was great to visit with and meet the members of the Platinum Coast Region who started up almost a year ago. Thank you Paul Barney for allowing us to support again this year.

FixxFest

FixxFest will be happening this year.

When: Nov 20th, 2021

Where: Florida International Rally & Motorsport Park (The FIRM) Starke, FL.

It is the same great event but with an exciting new location. Many of you are aware of the location. UroTuning is hoping to draw even more show competition from neighboring states; as well people who want have fun at the track. More details will given as they are “firmed up”.

In the meantime, continue to organize activities with your Audi owning friends and enjoy your wheels. Have some social interaction, following the state and local guidelines when in public and in private. Protect yourself.

Our priority is keeping you safe when participating in events representing or promoting the club. Audi Club of Florida is not willing to put anyone at risk. While welcomed to these venues, remember we are guests of the establishment or promoter and respect the rules. ACFL recommends obeying the most up to date guidelines and orders issued by the regions and governor concerning events.

ACFL still suggests using an antibacterial wipe, a disposable protective glove, a plastic t-shirt bag, or a dog poop bag as a barrier while using the fuel pumps to avoid potential exposure and dispose of it after fueling. Be careful out there and protect your health. #FlattenTheCurve

We are trying to expand regional coverage but need your help!

Audi Club Florida has the most active regions of any chapter in the Audi Club North America.  As we continue this year, we are currently looking for leadership in the following area:

Gator Region – Gainesville Area

Thomas Brinkmann, the General Manager, is ready to work with a representative to establish the region. If you are up to the challenge, let me know.

Many people have emailed me personally and through the National office to find out why there is not something in their area. I tell them assistance is required to help get things going locally. We desire to unite the state and have events within an hour’s drive of your location, at least quarterly. We are looking for some people who have the ambition to lead and desire to start something long term, helping arrange places to meet for lunch, activities, attend local car shows and coffee events, and other social activities. If you would like to volunteer and help organize a successful regional club, please contact me for details, and we will discuss making it happen. If you want to get active to help your region with ideas and help assist with and organize events, the regional leadership and I would love to have your help. This club is for you, so help us make it work for you.

Emerald Coast Region – Panhandle

February in the Emerald Coast Region ACFL started out with disappointing weather conditions like most of the country. The sun finally broke through in time for Destin Show and Shine on the third weekend which didn’t disappoint. We plan on keeping that event on the monthly calendar. We closed out the month with some members attending an awesome grassroots Autocross event hosted by RaceChip in Holt, while other members were able attended Pensacola’s C&C. Look for another RaceChip event coming to the Emerald Coast Speedway in May.

Platinum Coast Region (Sarasota to Naples)
The highlight of our February was the EuroTripper 8 event which was held at the Jet Blue Boston Red Sox spring training stadium. We assembled at the Fort Myers dealership and cruised the l-o-n-g distance of 2.3 miles down the street to the site. Our lead car was a 2021 e-tron on loan from the Ft. Myers Dealership which got a lot of attention at the show.

Thanks to our Florida Club president, Gerry Simms, we had a prime spot to line up our rings and enjoy an easy walk to virtually all the various venues. We also had a chance to display an assortment of SWAG (thanks to Gerry and Tampa’s Lead, Bob Greving, as well as David Forbes from the Ft. Myers Dealership) under our newly inherited Audi Tent. Fortunately, the weather man was wrong and the rain held off, and it was a beautiful south Florida day with a stiff breeze to flutter our Audi flags. During our gathering at the dealership, Rebecca and David Keith unveiled our new club nametags which have been a special project that they conceived, outsourced, assembled, and generously donated to our first 25 members.

As David says, “They are very unique and just like an Audi; they are a cut above the rest”! We thank them for their creativity and generosity. We were joined for the day by Leslie de la Serna, Lead of the First Coast Region as well as Florida Audi Club President, Gerry Simms, and Tampa Region Lead, Bob Greving.

As we look ahead to spring, we have a Drive and Dine planned for March 20th. April 10th will find us in Naples for a C and C at the Naples Dealership followed by a Mystery Drive to lunch. Several of our big group’s outings have been postponed until the Covid 19 vaccines give us the green light to gather and enjoy our comradery without the restrictions that currently are crimping our style a bit.
