This past month nothing was going on. Audi Club North America and Audi Club Florida will not be conducting, organizing, or participating in any event representing the club for the safety of our members until the 1st of June. Neither organization is was willing to put anyone at risk. The state is opening back up slowly; we are looking forward to July. In most areas events are still canceled due to occupancy restrictions. When we get going full steam ahead, we are pleased to have the Platinum Coast and the Space Coast starting up activities. Much planning is going into this. ACFL is recommending obeying the most up to date guidelines and orders issued by the regions and governor concerning events. ACFL still suggests using an antibacterial wipe, some type of disposable protective glove, a plastic t-shirt bag, or dog poop bag as a barrier while using the fuel pumps to avoid potential exposure and dispose of it after fueling. Be careful out there and protect your health until we can start meeting up again. #FlattenTheCurve
Audi COVID-19 Assistance:
If you know anyone who has been adversely affected by COVID-19 and out of work for the time being, Audi of America through Audi Financial Services is offering payment deferral and lease extensions for people affected and financed with them. Many people have emailed me personally and through the national office wondering why there is not something in their area. I tell them assistance is required to help get things going locally. We desire to unite the state and have events within an hour’s drive of your location at least quarterly. We are looking for some people who have the ambition to lead and desire to start something long term, helping arrange places to meet for lunch, activities, attend local car shows and coffee events, and other social activities. If you would like to volunteer and help organize a successful regional club, please contact me for details and we will discuss making it happen.

In a recent talk with JB, Sales Manager at Audi Clearwater because of the COVID-19 crisis needless to say all is rather quiet as folks are taking the necessary precautions to remain safe and healthy. In light of this, some still may need a new car and JB asked me to mention that they are offering in-home demo and deliveries on all new Audis. You do not need to visit the dealership to purchase a new Audi, This is nothing new and was always part of their high level of customer service but now with the present national health crisis, is an option for those who would rather not visit the dealership and purchase their new car from the comfort and safety of their homes. He also mentioned there remain a handful of select 19’s left.

One thing especially important is that you can now order for delivery your bespoke iterations of the following exciting vehicles to be put into the production queue as soon as the plants open in Ingolstadt, Neckarsulm and other sites across Europe: RS Q8, SQ8, SQ7, RS 7 and the all-new A6 allroad. Contingent on the opening of the European production, some of these could be 2021 models.
While some Audi dealerships in Florida are floor planning over 500 new Audi vehicles on their lots, which means their monthly interest expenses are through the roof. Audi Clearwater has been holding many of their cars at the port. These cars are still available within 48-72 hours for delivery but by managing their inventory at smarter levels, they can offer better pricing on new Audi models during these turbulent times. It is a car buyer’s market at present, especially with the low-interest rates.

New Business Opening
Many of you in the Gulf Coast Region who participated in the Audi Test Driver program run out of their testing facility in Clearwater will remember Thomas who was their head technician and ran it until worldwide conditions and diesel gate forced its closing. Thomas is now back from Spain where he was running Audi’s largest testing facility outside Germany and after previously working at a giant Porsche testing and development facility in Nardo, Italy. He is opening his automotive repair and speed shop in Sarasota called European Car Doctor. Thomas has had years of experience wrenching Audi, MB, Bentleys, Lamborghinis and BMWs and even a stint for MB in Stuttgart at one point. If you had the opportunity to watch him take apart a transmission or remove a valve assembly at the AoA facility in Clearwater you will have to admit that you probably have not seen a more competent automotive mechanic. Ironically, since Thomas has opened his doors, he has been so busy he has not had time to get his web site up and running 100% yet but here is a link which will give you his phone and business address: https://www.europeancardoctor.com/. Should you also have some speed equipment that needs installation that of course is never a problem, he has worked on and tuned the best from the A3 TDIs, RS 4s, RS 7 Plus to R8s and beyond. It is my understanding that shortly his facility will become a value-added dealer for Europe’s premier Audi tuner. So stay tuned for that announcement. Emerald Coast Region – Panhandle
As we close out May without any ACNA sanctioned events, our region is now starting to ease restrictions and get back to a “new” normal. That being said, it seems that we are all adapting to the new times and getting on with things.
To close out May we will be attending the Klutch Kickers drift track event at Emerald Coast Speedway in Holt, Florida on Saturday, May 30th, 11 am -dark.

Both are not ACNA sanctioned events and all should follow CDC and state-mandated regulations of social distancing.
I was looking forward to bringing a strong ECR-ACFL representation to Biloxi, Mississippi’s C&C on Sunday, June 7th. There’s simply too much uncertainty and not enough time to plan logistics at this point. We will hold off for now and attend the next one with plans to stay overnight at one of the Casinos and have some fun at the go-kart track nearby.
As we ease back into events June 13th seems to be promising. Crestview C&C announced they are holding their second event from 9-11 am at The Ford dealership.

The event we are all waiting for: Pensacola’s C&C is returning to its regular schedule operation on the 4th Saturday of each month at the new location at Detail Garage. We will meet up at McGuire’s at 7:15 and will depart at 7:30 to cruise in together.

The Platinum Coast Audi Region is set to launch in early August. Stay tuned for more information about the time and date, but the central location and enthusiastic support of the Audi Dealership in Fort Myers make it the natural spot to hatch our new club. We hope to draw membership from Sarasota south to Naples. Naturally, we will be holding some C and C meetings at the dealerships in Sarasota and Naples as well as Ft. Myers. Our initial organizational meeting will be a C and C at the Ft. Myers dealership followed by a mystery WIM to an undisclosed location for lunch. Routing maps with mile marker turns and check-in points will be distributed after the C and C. More details on that next month. We welcome input into activities and events that our members would find interesting. Let us hear from you! Our Facebook page will be active in July, but meanwhile, drop us an email.

Matthew joined the Audi Club in 2008 with the purchase of his first Audi, a 2005 S4 Avant, and started attending Audi Club events in New Jersey where he resided. In that time, he has owned several Audi models culminating in his current 2019 TT RS and attended and promoting Audi Club Chapter(s) and National Events.
