This past month there were luncheons in Jacksonville, Gainesville, and Pensacola, as well as Miami, Tampa, Jacksonville, and Pensacola, attended Cars and Coffees in their respective regions. Audi Pensacola also hosted an e-tron Test Drive Event for the Emerald Coast, and the First Coast attended an Oktoberfest at Buchner’s Bierhalle sponsored by Audi Jacksonville.
This month we gear up for our October event at Audi Gainesville. They will be holding this event as a fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House. With the chapter’s $600 contribution, we are an event sponsor this year and will have two tables of our own for seating and eating. They will have a bounce, human football, football on the big screen, and even a gelato truck. Please come out and support a great cause.
Next month, we will have FixxFest in Bradenton, and we looking forward to our first time participating and seeing some of our members in our corral, participating in the Show & Shine competition and having a good time.

October Luncheon
The First Coast Region October Monthly Luncheon after the Automotive Addict Cars and Coffee at the TIAA Bank Field 5 October will be skipped. We will be going to Oktoberfest Saturday, October 19th, 2019 to support the Ronald McDonald House. We will meet behind the Starbucks 8635 Blanding Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32244, at 8:15 am since they have a good size parking lot. We will have a driver’s meeting, then departing. As with any event where a drive is included, please arrive fueled up and ready to go.
In 2018, the ACFL contributed $700 to the Ronald McDonald House at this event. Hopefully this year we can exceed that contribution. The club has already written a check for $600. To help make up the difference this year we will be asking for contributions when we sign the insurance waivers. All who contribute $15 or more will receive one of the few remaining ACFL logo window stickers. This drive is open to all ACFL members and non-members and of course their different cars. It is a family-oriented drive and event as we enjoy ourselves simultaneously attempting to raise awareness and funds for the Ronald McDonald House.
JaxRings will also be going to Yalaha the following weekend Saturday, October 26th, 2019 for its annual luncheon with the Central Florida Audi Group. Group drive information will be posted on the JaxRings Facebook page. If you do not have Facebook and are interested, email me for information and I will send it to you.

FixxFest is a full-fledged car show for European car enthusiasts who are addicted to European Cars. Get your FIXX at THE biggest European auto event in Florida. The show is not only a GTG but also fully judged Best of the Class show and a track event where anyone can make runs down the 1/4 mile drag strip for an additional fee. The drag strip will be available from 11 am – 4 pm for as many runs as you want to get in! The GTG portion of the show will have room for 3000+ cars to be displayed.

Best of Class voting is participant judged and all winners will receive a trophy. This year we are currently expecting 2000+ cars and hope that this number may reach 2500+. The show will be held at a familiar location for those of you who frequent the only 1/4 mile drag strip in the Gulf Coast area, Bradenton Motorsports Park.

Gulf Coast Region October Report
Drive to Audi Gainesville’s Oktoberfest
Be sure that you have set aside Saturday, October 19th and make plans to join the Gulf Coast Region’s caravan on their drive to Oktoberfest at Audi Gainesville. Unfortunately the folks at Audi Wesley Chapel could not accommodate us on that date for our start due to prior commitments, but it will be the same time 8:00 AM that will gather but instead at the North end of the parking lot of Ikea in Tampa 1103 N 22nd St, Tampa, FL.
At Ikea we will sign the necessary insurance waivers and plan our route, basically after a short jog on 4 West, then North on 75. That accomplished, we will hit the road no later than 8:30 on our way to help raise funds and awareness for the Ronald McDonald House. Last year saw ACFL members from across the state meet up at this event where there was a band flown over from München along with the appropriate German food and Gemütlichkeit as all had a wonderful time under the big tent.
As stated above for the First Coast Region, the Gulf Coast Region will also be raising money for the Ronald McDonald House to help make up the difference between what we have already contributed and our goal of exceeding $700. Remember, we look forward to seeing you at the Ikea parking lot north end at 8:00 am on Saturday the 19th of October. We should arrive in time for the opening of the event around 10:00 AM and also secure a good parking spot near the big tent.
FixxFest
Be sure to make plans for Saturday, November 16th to head to the Bradenton Motorsport Park for the gathering of the ACFL and our statewide event at FixxFest. Activities start at 10:00 am, with the ACFL sponsoring for the first time our private Corral for Chapter Members and a special Show and Shine Competition open to all Audis. Prizes for first, second and third place at the Show and Shine will be awarded. We will need participants to pre-register for the corral in-order that we can plan its size.
If you wish to participate in the ACFL corral, I will need your name, ACNA number and car description no later than November 9th. This will allow us to plan appropriately for parking. Please email Bob Greving [email protected] with that information if you want to participate in the Audi Club of Florida corral only.
Show and Shine will be Open to all Audis both ACFL members and non-members. The entry fee for non-members is $15 per car but if you join the ACNA between September 1st and November 1st the entry fee will be waived. For ACFL members the entry fee will be $10. Contestants will need to send a check, or pay via PayPal to Gerry Simms [email protected] or snail mail at the following address so he can make the bank deposits, and verify membership. Please include a short note with your name, address, ACNA member, model and year of your Audi, with your email address for registration confirmation.

First Place for the ACFL Show and Shine will be an Audi Ital designed metal bowl constructed with polished rhombuses and the Red Audi Sport Logo, a stunning and rather expensive piece of modern art compliments of our Prestige Partner, Clearwater Audi plus $150 in UroTuning Gift Certificates (photo of trophy below). Second and third place will be $100 and $50 gift certificates respectively from our Prestige Partner UroTuning.
Those who enter the Show and Shine will be sent a copy of the judging sheets ahead of time so that they will know what the judges will be looking at and scoring on. You will have needed to have paid and registered by November 9th to participate in the Show and Shine.
This competition will be spirited. Frankly, we are looking for the best of the best so make sure your engine is detailed, door sills are cleaned, inside wheel rims are polished and tail piles sparkle if they are chromed. All contestants’ cars must have at least 5,000 miles on the odometer.
The ACFL will also have our tent erected and will be selling and renewing memberships to the ACNA. Also, it is planned that one will be able to purchase sweepstake tickets for the ACNA’s car; rumor has it that it will be the winner’s choice, either an e-tron SUV or an Audi RS5. Of course, we will also have our black chapter license plate holders for sale. We are looking forward to your participation in this fun event.

The Audi Club Show and Shine at FixxFest
For those of us who find enjoyment in keeping our Audi’s immaculately clean and polished before each time we drive them and take pride in its ownership, here is an opportunity to show off the results of our passion. We know there is the occasional chip on the front hood or fascia and for those that are daily drivers this cannot be avoided but the swirls of automated car washes certainly can. Yes, we keep the engine bay, door jambs, trunk all spotless and sparkling just as she came from Ingolstadt, Neckarsulm and now many of the other facilities where Audis are manufactured all over the world, be it Hungary, Belgium, Slovakia or Mexico. The cars are an investment, many times a very significant investment; they are of course Audis, a reflection of us and who we are, how we see ourselves and we want them to look their best so we not only take care of their mechanics, we spend time shining them and making them look sharp.
Ensuring that the finish always looks good and that the spiders and minute scratches are at a minimum, we also protect them from the seagull bombing runs and wipe them off after summer showers before the paint becomes watermarked. If you are one of that crew who finds relaxation in detailing their car, then stepping back and viewing one’s accomplishment and I think you know to whom I am speaking to here, make sure you sign up for the ACFL’s Show and Shine competition.
