Find of the Day: V8-Powered 2012 Audi R8 Exclusive Selection Edition Coupe on Cars & Bids
This 2012 Audi R8 Exclusive Selection Edition Coupe offered on Cars & Bids is one of just 50 examples ever created.
Here is your chance to buy an Audi R8 that is far more exclusive than the R8 GT that served as the swan song for the model. There were 50 of these Exclusive Selection Edition cars built and only 20 of those were equipped with the 430- horsepower V8 engine such as this one. The remaining 30 got the 5.2L V10.
With a car this rare, you may have forgotten all about it, so let’s refresh your memory. The car is painted in a beautiful Daytona Gray Matte. The car also comes with the same taillights that were standard on the first-generation R8 GT models. Carbon fiber covers the front splitter, diffuser, and interior trim. Red-painted brake calipers and Crimson Red accents for the leather seats complete the look. A Bang & Olufsen sound system with navigation was also included. The car was offered with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a six-speed R tronic automated transmission. The car listed for sale here is equipped with the R tronic.
The Exclusive Selection Edition was actually a sort of value package for R8 buyers in 2012. You would spend more money if you were to individually add all of these options to a standard R8. And the R8 GT taillights were not available on non-GT cars at any price.
The original buyer for this car added more options on top of everything included in the Exclusive Selection Edition package. These options include the Convenience Package and Magnetic Ride adaptive suspension. Carbon side blades, engine cover, interior inlays, and exterior mirrors were also added.
The beautiful machine being sold here has been lightly modified by the owner. Modifications include 20-inch Ferrada Forge-8 FR5 wheels with spacers (original wheels are included in the sale), carbon fiber side skirts, a painted carbon fiber rear wing, and an Antigravity lithium battery.
Noted flaws include some rock chips up front and a TPMS light that comes on periodically due to the car losing connection to the sensors.
With just about 11,500 miles on the car, it is barely broken in. Hopefully the new owner finds time to put more than just 900 miles per year on this fantastic R8. Will that new owner be you? Bidding ends Thursday, July 31.
