Find of the Day: Manual Swapped 2009 Audi A4 Avant

words: Bill, photos: Denis Borkovskiy

I do like a B8 and especially a B8 Avant. Years ago, I had a press fleet B8 A4 Avant Prestige and it was great but missing something…like a manual transmission. Denis must have felt the same way because he solved that problem. Here’s the ad:

2009 Audi A4 Avant Prestige 6 Speed Manual with 124k miles
The B8 Generation A4 Avant was never offered in a manual in the US. So I went and made one like Audi should have
Donor car was a 2010 A4 Quattro with 128k miles that had body damage (side Swiped)
This is a full OEM Swap (all modules coded to manual cluster recognizes the car is a manual cruise control etc)
I did all the common 2.0t failure points when the drivetrain was out such as timing chains/HPFP/Cam Follower/Cam bridge/Waterpump/tstat misc seals and gaskets.
Brand new Tires on OEM Mercedes wheels
Very clean inside and out with absolutely no rust
Cons
-P0420 code due to APR High Flow cat
-Regular paint defects (dents rock chips scratches)
-Drivers seat is starting to tear on the inner bolster slightly
-Lane Assist currently does not work believe the module is bad
-Reverse lights do not work that is the only part of the swap I was not able to figure out (there is very limited info about these swaps) and I could not track down a Reverse switch through my diagrams
Clean MN Title in hand

Very cool. Swap some S4 interior parts in like steering wheel and seats, put some Audi wheels on and this would be perfect for me. How about you? You can find this on our Audi Club North America – Classifieds Facebook page HERE.
