Find of the Day: Highest Bidder Takes Home This 2001 Audi TT Coupe in Need of Some TLC

This 2001 Audi TT Coupe could be the perfect car for those looking to get into an iconic Audi on a budget. The car has some bumps and bruises, but it is being offered at no reserve right now on Bring a Trailer.

There has been a lot of talk recently about Audi looking to rebound with a “TT Moment 2.0.” Well, this Aviator Gray Pearl Effect TT Coupe could be your ticket to experience your own TT moment 1.0. And it shouldn’t cost you much either.

The Upside

Let’s start with the good news. This car is painted in one of the best colors ever offered on the TT. It accentuates the stunning lines of the car wonderfully. The car is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission and Quattro all-wheel drive. It is powered by the turbocharged 1.8-liter EA113 inline-four-cylinder engine which was factory rated at 225 horsepower. That was the most powerful TT of the day and can zip you to 60 mph in about 6 seconds.

The car had a recent oil change, the timing belt was replaced in 2020 and in between the oxygen sensor, ignition coil, air injection pump, spark plug, valve cover gasket, fuel pressure regulator and injector were all replaced. Also, in 2023 the rear brake caliper, rotor, and pads were replaced. The control arm and front brake rotors and pads were replaced last year. So, the car has gotten some attention. But it still needs a bit more.

Areas of Concern

Demerits include a couple of accidents noted on the Carfax. The front valance is cracked, the headlights are cloudy, there is a dent in the left door, and some scratches on the rear bumper cover. It wears an aftermarket grille and fog lights. The wheels have curb rash. The driver’s seat bottom upholstery is torn, the temperature adjustment switch is damaged, and the left door panel has delaminated upholstery. The center display has missing pixels, and the tachometer does not work. The car travelled 146K miles so far.

So, this is not a car that is ready for the lawn at Pebble Beach. But it has good bones. It is drivable as it is, and you can fix up the areas that need attention as you go. You can bring it back to showroom new condition if you want. Or you can modify it any way you see fit and not feel bad about it. Bidding ends on Tuesday, September 2. Will that be the day your TT moment 1.0 begins?
