words: Bill, photos: RS Racetec GmbH, Audi Sport

Audi is leaving the DTM series after many years and many wins but no worries…Audi’s motorsports future is bright. Still, if you want to relive the past, you can always buy this Abt-Audi TT-R DTM that was driven by Mattias Ekström and others during the 2003 DTM campaign. Ekström, a two-time DTM champion, retired from Audi Sport in 2018. Here he is talking about the best moments in DTM with this Abt-Audi TT-R making several appearances:

It’s currently owned by RS Racetec Gmbh but it’s now up for sale. Here’s the ad:

The two ads I did find for this car only had a couple of photos so I was about to pull some more from the Audi Sport archives. Here’s the TT-R and the caption from Audi Sport: Abt-Audi drivers in the DTM 2003: Peter Terting, Mattias Ekström, Christian Abt, Laurent Aiello, Karl Wendlinger and Martin Tomczyk (from left). Now it’s no secret that I’m not a big fan of the MK1 TT but I could definitely get into this one…though not literally. You can find this Abt-Audi TT-R HERE. Thanks for the heads up, Ryan.
