Find of the Day: 2000 Audi S4 Avant

words: Bill, photos: autotrader.ca

Here’s something I just learned today…apparently the B5 S4 Avant was not sold in Canada. I figured our neighbors to the north were a good demographic for an AWD wagon to tackle those Great White North snow storms. So where do you go if you want one of the most beloved Avants? Apparently Japan. Here’s the ad:

Up for sale is this extremely tidy Audi S4 Avant Euro Spec unicorn – this car was imported from Japan by a local Audi enthusiast, it has since changed hands twice (including me) for a total of 3 Calgary owners. I purchased the car in the summer of 2018 with approx 118,000km, it now shows 138,500km.

The Avant was never sold in Canada, and is very hard to come by in the US – especially one this clean and unmodified. The car is accompanied by a lengthy service history from Japan as well as service history from it’s time in Canada. Currently this is the only Avant for sale in Canada – the vehicle is priced to reflect rarity and condition.
Being JDM Euro spec the car has a 2.7T (261 hp / 295 lb-ft) vs (250 hp / 258 lb-ft) // Only 2 front O2 sensors (no rear) and no secondary air pump. This contributes to the increase in power over the US spec cars.

Other Features Include: Euro Rear Bumper // OEM Carbon Fiber Trim with Blue Weave // Bluetooth Stream // Turbo timer installed – turbos have been treated very well // Extra Set of Mint OEM Recaro Seats // Full Front Film (Incl. Mirrors, Door Cups)

Included Wheels: RS4 Replica Rims (seen in photos) // 17” Avus Wheels (from B6) // 17” Avus S6 Winter Wheel and Tire Set (Pirelli)

Service History:
Timing Belt service with Genuine Audi Water Pump
Valve cover gaskets, cam seals, cam tensioner gaskets
Belt tensioner
Upgraded oil cap
Spark plugs
Rear wheel bearing
Coolant pump (valley of engine)
Coolant flush
Brake flush
Window Regulator
Rear differential oil flush/refill
Regular services

Driver’s seat has a small tear (hence replacement seats) // Windshield is cracked – will replace for new owner.

I was going to post this yesterday but didn’t want anyone thinking it was an April Fools joke. There’s no joking about a manual B5 S4 Avant especially this one. This Japanese-German beauty only has 138,500km (86,000 miles) and is listed for $19,888 CAD ($15,800 USD). I’d say fair price especially for our Canadian friends. You can find this B5 S4 Avant 6sp HERE.
