Find of the Day: 1983 Audi quattro

words: Bill, photos: Throttlestop

The ur-quattro was a classic the moment it arrived but its legacy has grown over the years. Today, it’s getting harder to find one in pristine condition but here’s one. It only has 52,167 miles and one spot of rust on the hatch. I don’t know the ownership history of this car but it’s being offered by Throttlestop in Wisconsin. Throttlestop just happens to be a sponsor of our Wisconsin chapter so maybe one of our members knows the history. Here’s the ad:

  • Only 52,167 Original Miles
  • 2 Owner Car
  • 2.1L Inline 5 Cylinder Producing 156hp/170ft-lbs
  • 5 Speed Manual Transmission
  • Finished in Black Manual
  • Zebra Patterned Cloth
  • 1 of only 238 Ur-Quattro’s Imported
  • Extremely rare find

This Audi Ur Quattro Coupe is a two owner example with only 52,167 miles. By 1982, the European rally phenomenon has spread worldwide, and the American were mesmerized by this raw style of racing. Audi had started to dominate this scene and used it to showcase their latest technology including the sophisticated Quattro All-Wheel drive system. This technology was eventually adapted for the original road going quattro with a total of 664 cars produced for the US market of which only 238 Ur Quattro’s were imported for the 1983 model year. These cars are extremely rare and are difficult to come by. This example has just received a full service. Cosmetically excellent with only minor rust on the trunk lid. The Audi Quattro Coupe runs and drives beautifully. Don’t miss this opportunity!

That interior…wow. I love the plaids of the 80s/90s Audi and Volkswagen models and this one looks in fantastic shape. My buddy has a similar ur-quattro in his garage but his interior is a bit…well a bit chewed up. This also has to be one of the lowest mileage quattro I’ve seen in awhile. Throttlestop has this listed  ebay. Currently, the highest bid is $49,900 and there are 14 days left.  If you want an opportunity to own a legend, you can find to HERE. Thanks to Bobby for the heads up!
