Feel Good Story of the Day: Little Patients Can Now Drive Audi R8s To Surgery

Having surgery as an adult is scary…now imagine being a small child in the same situation. I broke my arm when I was about 5 and vaguely remember feeling petrified while laying on the gurney. Inova Children’s Hospital in Fall’s Church, VA understood this so they borrowed an idea that is starting to spread across the country.

The idea was to ease the fears of the little patients by having them drive themselves to the OR. This was where Audi of America and Audi Sport stepped in. They donated two Audi R8 Spyder battery-powered cars to the hospital. Tristan Herbert (left) and Matt McKown (right) escorted six year old Poppy Sellier as she became the first to drive these machines. Our friends over at New German Performance were also there and brought racecar driver, Andrew Davis, and their Audi RS 3 TCR.

The smile on Poppy’s face was contagious and soon everyone was all smiles. Kudos to Inova Children’s Hospital, Audi of America, Audi Sport, and New German Performance for making scared patients smile on their way to surgery. Thanks to Mark D. for the heads up.
