Vermont Covered Bridge Tour with Audi Club North Atlantic – August 19, 2017
This year’s Vermont Covered Bridge Tour with Audi Club North Atlantic will visit twelve covered bridges while traversing 120 miles of Vermont’s most scenic roadways, with time planned en route so that you can stop and take a couple of pictures at each of the bridges. The lunch break will be in Middlebury VT, where there are multiple places to eat, ranging from a Subway and a McDonalds, to an A&W Root Beer, the Two Brothers Pub, and the local diner (which I recommend-MC). A map of suggested locations will be provided as part of the tour, but the cost of lunch is on you. After the lunch break we will drive through the Green Mountain State Forest and traverse some of Vermont’s finest dirt roads. Time and opportunities for “personal break” rest stops in the middle of the morning and afternoon sections are incorporated into the route.
The finish is a surprise, but I can say, if you like Micro brews and some of the finest wood cooked food, you’ll be having a great time at the finish. The finish is conveniently located 5 miles from Exit 2 on Route 89 south, 30 miles north of the Vermont/New Hampshire state line.
Prizes will be awarded at the end for the two best stories of the day, voted by you, the participants. Prizes will be from Vermont Marble Co, so we’re not talking about some little plaque here!
The 2017 Covered Bridge Tour starts at the Hampton Inn, 47 Farrell Road, Rutland, VT 05701. Tour check-in opens at 7:30 AM in the conference room and the first car off will be around 9:00 AM Saturday morning. The lunch break in Middlebury will be around noon, with first car off on the afternoon leg at 1:15 and an expected arrival at the finish about 4:15. Entry fees are $25 per car (pack in as many people as you want), and registration can be done on MSR by clicking the details and registration link below. You’re on your own to find overnight accommodations, there are several hotels in the immediate area, including the Hampton Inn and a Holiday Inn.
