TT West 2022: Rockies Roads

When

Aug222022 - Aug272022
All Day

Join us for the TT West Rockies Roads Tour this summer. This 1,500 mile trip covers six of the toughest and/or most scenic roads in Western North America, including Chief Joseph Highway, Beartooth Pass, Going-to-the-Sun Road, and the Banff National Park Icefields Parkway. It takes us north through the Rockies starting in Cody, Wyoming to Banff, Alberta via Glacier National Park, making this the first international TT West event. Dates are August 22-27, 2022. Saturday August 27, 2022 is an optional drive through the Banff National Park to the Columbia Icefield Discovery Centre. Click on the Schedule & Daily Routes tab for a detailed itinerary.

Participation will be limited to 20 cars which fills up fast, so register early. If you plan to attend, it is recommended that you investigate requirements for border crossings. Some details are provided below and include having a passport and, at this time, a COVID vaccination. An alternate Friday drive for those who choose not to cross the border is provided in the Schedule & Daily Routes tab.

Because of potential changes in border crossing requirements due to COVID, it is possible that ALLTT West participants will use the alternate Friday route. Therefore, TT West participants who plan to enter Canada should also make a hotel reservation for the alternate route ending in Missoulain case travel into Canada becomes too restrictive. A final decision for entering Canada will be made in early August 2022.

Also, pay particular attention to the Wednesday route in the Schedule tab where every driver is required to make their own reservation for traveling the Going To The Sun Road in Glacier National Park.

Border Crossing Requirements

At the present time, everyone must have a passport. Also, it is highly likely that the present requirement of proof of COVID vaccination will remain in place in August.

Information for crossing from the USA into Canada can be found here. You must submit your travel information into ArriveCAN. The form asks for proof of vaccination as well as contact and travel details. The information must be submitted within 72 hours of arriving in Canada. Those who don’t submit their information can be denied entry so make sure you have all the information you need to load into ArriveCAN prior to your departure for TT West. One of the items to be entered is a quarantine plan should you be denied entry to Canada at the border. It is recommended that your quarantine plan be to not enter Canada and return to the USA. However, ArriveCAN requires a Canadian address to be inserted so use the address of your hotel in Banff.

As of February 1 you must also show proof that you had a negative PCR COVID test within 72 hours prior to crossing from the USA into Canada by car. TT West will provide participants with information on when and where to get a test performed in the USA that meets this time requirement. The COVID testing requirement has changed in the past few months and could be changed or eliminated in the coming months.

Information for crossing from Canada into the USA can be found here. As of February 1 you need a passport and proof of vaccination. No COVID test is presently required if you are traveling by car but that could change.
