10am Audi North Scottsdale to Tortilla Flat to Joe’s Farm Grill – Gilbert
Audi Club AZ’s May 18th Drive & Dine brings us a genuine, official double favorite day.
Favorite #1: amusement parks have nothing on the thrill ride known as AZ 88, a cliff hugging, hair-pin turning, one-lane bridging Audi road that delivers us to Tortilla Flat, AZ, population 6.
Favorite #2: We’ll proceed to Food Network’s favorite Arizona stop for Diners, Drive-ins & Dives – Joe’s Farm Grill in Gilbert.
We’ll take the “back” way from Audi North Scottsdale via Shea Boulevard to within a couple hundred yards of AZ 87, stopping at “our usual” Circle K Shell on the right for snacks and gas.
We’ll turn on AZ 87 N (left) for a quick ride to exit Bush Highway S (right). Continue to Usery Mountain Pass, taking a left. This road will turn into Ellsworth Rd, turning left or East on Brown Road / W. Lost Dutchman Road. This will take us to AZ 88 and Tortilla Flat.
We’ll take AZ 88 back out to Apache Trail East on our way to Joe’s Farm Grill, then turning South on AZ 202. We’ll exit Higley Road turning left and going two electric lights to Ray Road. Turn right (west) and drive a hundred yards or so to Joe’s gravel parking lot on your right. There are a limited number of asphalt spots as you go closer to the buildings.
