Please join Audi Club AZ as we drive to one of only two company owned towns in Arizona: Bagdad! Freeport-McMoRan owns all housing and commercial buildings in this little copper mining town of about 1,800 residents. While they don’t have a bank, they want you to know they do have two ATMs.
After Cars & Coffee, we will depart at 10:00am on March 2, 2019 from Audi North Scottsdale, taking I-17 to Carefree Highway (AZ-74) on our way to Wickenburg. We’ll stop before entering town at a Shell station on the right (30216 US-60) . We’ll proceed to AZ-93 North to pick up AZ-89 North on our way to a Dollar General Store (22925 AZ-89) just as we are entering Yarnell, where we’ll stop for a little rest stop. We will then continue north through town to eventually turn left onto poorly marked Kirkland Valley Rd. (County Road 15). This will merge into County Road 96 which will take us to Bagdad in about 2.5 hours if we didn’t stop.
We are certain to enjoy wonderfully gourmet lunch at the Diner on Main (103 Main St, Bagdad) where they will deduct $.75 from your bill if you don’t order a side. Good to know!
After lunch you can take County Road 97 to US 93 for a straight shot back to Wickenburg or return the way we came. Either way you’ve had a terrific four-ring day with many good looking friends.
