This fall, we return to the Cherohala Skyway and Tapoco Lodge, October 4-5. Following last year’s success, we’ve negotiated access to the entire lodge and have secured a very favorable 20% discount. Again, the number of beds is limited, so don’t wait to book. Some cabins have several bedrooms, ideal if you want to share with friends. Saturday, October 4 we will take you on a warmup drive around the mountains of Northeast Georgia, Tennessee, and Western North Carolina, ending with a private dinner in the Cheoah Dining Room at Tapoco Lodge. Sunday, October 5 begins with a group breakfast, after which you may either linger at the Lodge or join us on a morning run on the area two-lanes. We’ll gather again for lunch at the Lodge and then set off on the highlight of the weekend, driving the Cherohala Skyway. This is one of the most beautiful roads in the region, with almost every turn engineered to a perfect radius and smooth pavement. After a brief stop in Tellico Plains, we take the Skyway back to Robbinsville with the fading sun behind us, a striking experience.
In keeping with the Stage format we introduced last fall, you can attend as many or as few of the components of this trip as you desire (or have time for). We just ask that you respect the scheduled departure times for each Stage you sign up for. Each Stage is detailed on the registration form. Participants will cover their own expenses, and the nominal $30 registration fee is the same for everyone.
