Editor’s Note: Audi Club Lone Star’s 2018 State Meet is on for May 18-20 in San Antonio so in honor of that, we’re looking back on the 2017 State Meet. This story originally ran in the Fall 2017 issue of the Audi Club North America quattro quarterly print magazine. Event snapshot:

  • Held on May 19-21 in Austin, TX
  • Headquartered at the Spring Hill Suites in Cedar Park, TX
  • Activities took place in the surrounding northern suburbs of Austin
  • Total attendees: 49
  • Total vehicles: 34

A catered reception at the Petrol Lounge kicked off the State Meet festivities on Friday night. This unique space in north Austin was a big hit for members – lots of cool cars, a huge slot car track, and photo ops galore. The relaxed atmosphere was the perfect environment to catch up with old friends and start making new ones.

Despite cloudy skies and rain on Saturday morning, a fun drive through Hill Country was still impressive – Cow Creek Road & Park Road 4 should be bucket list items for any driver visiting the region. The group paused at Louie Mueller BBQ in Taylor, TX, to enjoy some of the best barbecue Austin has to offer. Even better, the weather cleared up just in time for the afternoon show and shine, which gave the more fastidious folks a chance to shine up their rides after the wet morning drive. Winners received a variety of prizes, including a Pirelli prize pack and goodies from our sponsors Audi Grapevine and Sierras Autosalon. Per Lone Star State Meet tradition, Saturday evening dinner was a German themed buffet at Walburg German Restaurant. The group posed for photo in front of the picturesque, rustic sunset backdrop. Those who still had energy to burn took a short drive to Pinballz arcade for classic pinball and arcade games accompanied by a well-deserved beer.

On Sunday morning, the group cooled off underground at Inner Space Caverns in Georgetown and learned the unique story of how the cavern was discovered. Then we wrapped up with a casual lunch and open house at Brink Motorsports where owner Mike Brink provided lunch, performed free VAG COM modifications for attendees, and raffled off prizes.

Thank you to everyone who attended and brought family, friends, awesome cars, big smiles, and Audi love. We truly enjoyed hosting you in the city of Austin and its northern suburbs. I would also like to thank the planning committee members Audi Club Lone Star board of directors (current and emeritus), and those who stepped up during the event to pitch in. And finally, a big shout out to our sponsors: Brink MotorsportsAudi North AustinAudi Grapevine, and Sierras Autosalon. Together, you made the event a smashing success!

We were lucky to have photos taken by pro photographers, Jason Hernandez and Daniel Perez. Jason and Daniel used their ninja photography skills to quietly capture a mountain of great moments from the weekend.

We hope everyone had a blast and look forward to hosting the next State Meet again next year in San Antonio!
