Electric Muscle: Audi RS 6 Avant e-tron Spied Tackling the Nürburgring
Just last week we spotted the new Audi RS 6 Avant testing at the Nürburgring. And now we have spotted its all-electric sibling doing the same. Behold the Audi RS 6 Avant e-tron.
Few technical details are known at this point about the RS 6 Avant e-tron, but we do know that it will likely pack quite a wallop. It could produce as much as 800 horsepower. Considering the current RS e-tron GT Performance makes 912 horsepower, an RS 6 Avant e-tron with 800 horses is easily believable.
The RS 6 Avant e-tron is expected to ride on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), which was developed jointly with Porsche.
The test mule spied on the Nürburgring is still heavily camouflaged so there isn’t a lot we can make out other than it doesn’t look all that different than the non-EV RS 6 Avant. Missing on the e-tron are the large exhaust pipes naturally and the front bumper has a different shape. But it is easy to see that the two cars are closely related.
The question is which RS 6 would you pick? The e-tron is likely to be the most powerful and quickest of the next RS 6 generation. But that will come at the expense of giving up that glorious twin-turbo V8 engine. Or any engine for that matter. Do you value outright speed above all else? Or do you need engine noise to complete the sporty car experience? The good news is that it seems that Audi is going to offer the choice.
