Could Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo Mean Chances of e-tron GT allroad?

Editor’s not: this originally was posted to our sister site, e-tron connect

Though most of us sit grounded due to pandemic quarantine, this hasn’t stopped our spy photographer sources. Some of the recent images they’ve sent over are those of the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo. Shown just a few years ago in concept form, the Cross Turismo offers the off-road wagon treatment to the Taycan sedan. And, because the Taycan shares the same J1 underpinnings as the e-tron GT, we’re sort of curious if Audi might ever consider their own off-road wagon… because off-road wagons are kind of a thing at Audi.

It remains to be seen whether Audi will spawn an Avant version of the e-tron GT, but it would make sense. Audi’s history with the long roof body style is long and impressive. Of course, part of that lineage diverts into the allroad sub-brand that dates back to the early 2000s.

Obviously, Porsche is closer to market on this one just as they were with the 4-door version of the Taycan. A production Audi e-tron is expected to be shown later this year if not delayed by the pandemic. Likely the long roof versions of the Taycan are not far behind. If Audi is planning a long roof version, they’e yet to show a concept or test mule. We’re keeping our fingers crossed just the same.
