Trianlge Imports will be Discovering the History of Raleigh’s Lost Superspeedway.
Raleigh Speedway was only open from 1952 to 1958. It was the second super speedway in NASCAR, the first in North Carolina, and the first track to be lit for nighttime racing. Representing a transition in NASCAR, it was a popular track among drivers and fans, but was abandoned and nearly forgotten. This presentation will cover the history of the track, why it closed, and the reasons you’ve probably never heard of it. Jacob Simpson is an historian from Mount Airy, NC who now resides in Cincinnati, OH. A graduate of NC State University, Jacob specializes in regional histories and has worked for museums in North Carolina, Tennessee, and Ohio.
Come on out and enjoy a lesson on our local and automotive past.
Admission to the history museum is free!
