Audi Reveals RS 5 Sportback at Classic Car Club Manhattan Event

Audi is stepping up its focus on the American market, revealing the new Sportback derivative of its RS 5 high performance model the night ahead the New York Auto Show. It chose to do so at Classic Car Club Manhattan’s facility on the Hudson River, one night before the main event.

Going one further with the RS 5 Sportback, Audi aims to launch the car into the American market first. Orders will likely begin before the end of the year as sources target the initial cars in dealers in the first half of 2019.

The event itself had a greater Audi Sport focus. The R8 RWS, a North American model launch, was also present at the event, as was the rest of the Audi Sport production model lineup elsewhere within the sprawling warehouse located on the Hudson River.

Outside, a mix of Audi Sport customer racing cars were also on display. This arrangement included the RS 3 LMS, R8 LMS GT4 and R8 LMS GT3.
