Every winter for the past several years, Audi drivers in the Colorado area get excited about another round of ice driving events on Georgetown Lake. Each event includes instruction on how Audi automobiles are designed to perform in icy conditions before drivers get two to three hours of time on the frozen lake to practice and hone their driving skills.

This year, Audi Club Rocky Mountain was limited to one date, with two dates cancelled due to poor ice conditions. Despite this missed date, the club had a very successful event in February with the event selling out and weather conditions were ideal.

For the upcoming 2023 season, Audi Club Rocky Mountain planned two dates scheduled for Friday, January 20th (Eiskhana) and Saturday, February 11th (Quattrokhana). Each session could accommodate up to 24 cars, split between two tracks on the ice. Approximately halfway through the morning drivers are switched from one track to the other in order to get practice on both tracks. Last year the chapter also offered a lunch option at a local restaurant with many of the participants taking advantage of this option and being able to share their experiences with some of the other drivers. As a chapter, we teamed up with some local sponsors for some swag gear and dealer cars on the ice for members to try.

Overall, these instructional events have been well received by the chapter members, especially for our younger drivers that dont have much driving experience in adverse conditions. These events provide a safe learning environment for our drivers to really learn how their cars are designed to perform in these conditions and allows the driver to have a higher level of confidence in their driving skills.

Registration for future events will be opening up in December and although it is typically filled with Rocky Mountain Chapter members, we are happy to have other chapter members join in on the fun.
